TNA & Jarrett: work, shoot, or both? - 2009-12-06 7:59 AM
so once again, the backstage maneuverings and politickings in wrestling have become more interesting than the programming itself. we've all read of the backstage power struggles between Jarrett & Angle over the last few years and how in the middle of all this Angle's wife left him for Jarrett. (which is a big dowhatnow? in and of itself. . .)
this is of course followed by the apparent removal of Jarrett and many backstage people seen as loyal to him from TNA. quickly followed by the announcement of Hogan & Bischoff joining the company and Hogan's various rounds of verbal diarrhea about what he's got planned and who he's bringing in with him.
now my first thoughts on this (aside from "well, TNA's fucked.") were of course that Jarrett & co. were removed to make room for Hogan & Bischoff and whoever they do bring in. this being a bit of payback on Hogan's part for what Jarrett & Russo did to him in WCW. Russo's tenure may be short lived as well.
so now I'm reading that Foley is on screen trying to get ahold of Jarrett and is going to his home next week on the show. so the question is, how much of this is real and how much is a work? obviously a lot of the personal issues between Jarrett & Angle are real. there's also likely some real heat between Jarrett & Hogan. Jarrett always brings up him attacking Hogan at the press conference in Japan several years ago and we know the WCW fallout between Hogan and Jarrett/Russo turned ugly.
but the rest. . .is it all just setting the stage for the inevitable onscreen rivalry? will se be seeing Hogan/Bischoff against Jarrett/Russo on tv/ppv/intarwebs/whatever? is it just the setup for the next big "power struggle" storyline?
