so, what do you see happening in the world of gaming for 2005? how will the handheld battles play out? what organizations will be purchased by game developers? will the xbox 2 launch destroy all or be delayed?
The Playstation 3 and X-Box two will be announced and possible released. Both will be backwards compatible.
Nintendo will stop making consoles, but will still make handhelds.
The Nintendo DS/PSP debate will cripple most video game messageboards.
The Revenge of the Jedi video game will kick ass.
Starcraft 2 will be announced.
Rob it's funny you mention the X-Box being delayed. The way things are looking right now Sony is trying to rush the PS3 release so they can launch close to the same time as Microsoft.
In 2005 I think you will see fewer exclusive only titles.
In 2005 I think Nintendo will fall further behind (I hate to say that/ the more systems the better).

at worst, gamecube has as many global sales as xbox. thats not really a case requiring a "save"
i think e3 will reveal relative monstrous changes in the direction of gaming. xbox2, ps3, and gc2 will start to split off in individual directions -- ps3 promoting movie theater like abilities, xbox2 promoting more PC similarities, gamecube2 promoting more non-linear gameplay (i.e; DS).
the battle of new media will begin, with sony using their own blue ray discs, and xbox and nintendo using the ibm/panasonic hybrid hd dvd. the latter will prove the more definitive media, as microsoft will push hd dvd drives with PC windows compatability
xbox2 will launch with the only two rare games to be published in the 21st century.
developers will begin creating more minigames and spinoff games -- a GTA 4.5, more zelda sidequests, etc
nintendo will launch its online network, starting with the DS, a possibly be free.
online play will finally take its proper direction: not focusing on challenging other players, but rather on the ability to download and upgrade your game (new team uniforms, new levels, extra weapons, etc)
