UK, March 28, 2007 - Finally the dreams of SEGA and Nintendo fans come true as news hits thats Mario and Sonic are set to star side by side in a new game for Wii and DS, based on the 2008 Olmypics.

Players compete in events around venues based on official locations for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Featuring a supporting cast of recognisable faces from the world of both Sonic and Mario, players can choose from a range of characters including Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, Tails and more.

I'm still hoping Sonic will be in Smash Bros.

Pit your Mii against Mario & Sonic at the Olympics

While Miis continue to be the face of Nintendo's push into the uncharted blue ocean of social gaming, the bobble headed avatars have remained criminally underutilized by the bulk of the console's software library. Apparently Sega agrees, as the company confirmed that the little guys and gals (and ninjas, and sith lords...) will be playable as characters in the upcoming Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games.

In addition, Sega has also announced four new over the top 'Dream Events,' making the previously announced normal events seem positively humdrum by comparison. These new events, which will be available as both single and multiplayer matches, look to take a more playful approach to this fan service, offering power ups and character-specific special moves in challenges such as racing, fencing, table tennis, and diving. Given the inclusion of Miis, it will be interesting to see if they are also given abilities of their own, or are left at a disadvantage when matched against these super powered mascots.

Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games just went gold, and is expected to hurdle onto retail shelves for the Wii on November 6.

haven't been keeping tabs, but with this n smash brothers, it seems sonic is freely loaning out sonic, or was this instance mario loaned to sega?

so... the game will be released tomorrow. it got some decent reviews. and, y'know, its the first ever pairing of the two largest video game icons of the past 20 or so years. just that lil ditty.

and, yet, its like a silent (potentially deadly) release!

zelda didn't get much love. metroid prime 3 was saddened. this game is going unnoticed. and mario galaxy, the true successor to the most powerful franchise in video game history, will debut next week... all without fanfare!

very, very piss poor job of promotional advertising, nintendo.

Yeah....Nintendo is pushing the console,which is fine,but the games..'specially the moneymakers...are getting little to no hype.The most I saw for a game was MySims.....I mean...really.

isn't there another sonic/mario game coming out? kinda like the old track n field or somthing?

either way, yeah, i had no clue when either of those 2 were coming out, and the same for mario kart. i'm gettin the wii this weekend, mostly to just have it for christmas time for my son. don't get me wrong, i want it, but i prolly would have gotten the 360 first, tho, only cuz so many friends have it and play online.
