Saved by the bell : E! true holly wood story. premieres TONIGHT!!!! 8 pm est.
in honor of this, some SBTB facts.
Originally, the show was called Good Morning, Miss Bliss and aired for just 13 episodes on the Disney Channel. Former Disney child star Hayley Mills played teacher Miss Bliss, and the show was set in Indianapolis. After it moved to Saturday mornings on NBC, Miss Bliss was dissed, and the show was suddenly set in Palisades, California.
Dennis Haskins, as Principal Belding, was the only character to be in every season of all four Saved by the Bell shows, from Miss Bliss to The New Class.
Although Saved by the Bell was the best known and most popular of the four shows, The New Class actually ran longer and eventually had more episodes: 143 versus 86.
Saved by the Bell was NBC's first live-action Saturday morning show since Land of the Lost in 1977.
Samuel 'Screech' Powers
Contrary to rumor, Dustin Diamond (Screech) is in no way related to Mike Diamond of the Beastie Boys. Nor is Neil Diamond his--or Mike D.'s--father.
Dustin Diamond's middle name is, however, Neil.
Like Screech, Diamond is a chess aficionado and even has an instructional chess video, Dustin Diamond Teaches Chess.
Dustin Diamond beat the snot out of Ron "Horshack" Palillo on Celebrity Boxing 2.
Zackary 'Zack' Morris
Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack) severed ties with his parents in the mid-1990s after disputes about money and his career. His mother is Indonesian, and his father is Dutch.
Of the four kids in his family, Gosselaar was the only one born in the United States.
He speaks fluent Dutch.
He now stars as Detective John Clark on NYPD Blue.
Gosselaar used to enjoy skydiving, until two friends died in separate skydiving accidents.
He's still into motorcycles and auto racing and has raced with the Barber Dodge Pro Series.
Kelly Kapowski
Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (Kelly) is a former Miss Junior America and once won Teen magazine's Great Model Search.
Thiessen says Gosselaar taught her how to smoke.
She was valedictorian of her real-life 1992 high school class.
In 1999, Thiessen's boyfriend, David Strickland of Suddenly Susan, committed suicide.
She finally broke with her good-girl image by moving on to Beverly Hills, 90210 and sleeping with everyone there.
Lisa Turtle
Lark Voorhies (Lisa) was once engaged to Martin Lawrence.
Voorhies, a Jehovah's Witness, reportedly quit Days of Our Lives, because she believed a sex scene violated her religious principles.
Albert Clifford 'A.C.' Slater
Mario López went on to star in Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story and Pacific Blue, and is one of the hosts of The Other Half.
López's parents are from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico.
Jessica 'Jessie' Spano
Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie) has a degree in English literature from UCLA.
Berkley's real name is Nehama Pnina.
Berkley's left eye is green. Her right eye is half green and half brown.
Both Berkley and Thiessen auditioned for the role of Kelly. Show officials liked them both and couldn't decide, so they cast Thiessen as Kelly and invented the role of Jessie for Berkley.
Berkley finally broke with her good-girl image by starring in Showgirls, one of the most panned movies in recent years, if not of all time.

I had a HUGE crush on Tiffany Amber Theissen, she was the reason I watched the show. For some reason I've never seen an episode of Bevery Hills 90210, though.
How about sad stories of how we got into the stupid show?
Let's see... 8th grade, maybe 9th, I would visit a friend of mine, he was Indian and I was half-Indian. When I would sleep over, his little bro the next morning would be watching the damn show. I was like, what is this faggot crap? But he was dedicated to it. I watched it, only to make fun of it, wondered where all the cartoons on NBC had gone. I think they had something else, maybe two other things. California Dreams, does that sound right?
Anyways, I would watch tidbits of it, but it seemed like horseshit. When it came on reruns on TBS, I would sit down, watching bits of it, seeing again what the value of it was. I was mesmerized by something. Somehow it got me to watch a few episodes of the college years. I knew it sucked bad, but I was stuck in a trance. Amazing considering I couldn't watch a whole episode of Melrose or Beverly Hills. Maybe I just like looking at Tiffany Amber Theissan. Or was it Zach I secretly yearned for?
Ren and Stimpy had a higher intellectual value, but alas, I think my extended basic cable ran out. I lost that beloved channel. Maybe that was why I was stuck with that crap.
There was a guy at school who looked like Screech, so everybody would watch the show to talk about the idiotic things Screech did on the show and the beat up the poor boy.

While not as mind numbing as that GOD AWFUL Full House, I never saw any reason to view it.
