I don't care who sings it, doing cock push ups is vulgar!

Anyways, I'm listening to

The Pixies - Surfer Rosa(whole album)

Just got done listening to Nirvana's Incesticide all the way through.

Played a couple of different CDs this weekend.

The first was "the Story of the Clash."

Then, I happened across a copy of Steve Forbert's "Jackrabbit Slim," and grabbed that, since I long since lost my cassette copy.

Then, to annoy my fourteen-year-old in front of her friends, I played "Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson: Storytellers" for a while in the car.

Last night, I listened to the master, Zevon, and his eeriely prophetic "Life'll Kill Ya" album.

Today, I didn't play anything at length, but I did play a couple of tunes I have on the computer: the new Liz Phair song, a duet between Bob Dylan and Ralph Stanley and a couple of Jack black's movie songs ("School of Rock" and "let's it get it on").

Pretty eclectic weekend.

12 Memories - Travis

G-Man. The Story of the Clash absolutely rocks. No road trip is complete for me without that one handy!

Cool. The original is by Tears for Fears. I had no idea there was a cover version.

As for cover versions, right now i'm listening to "where is my mind by Placebo. Originally done by The Pixies.

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my entire life...

My oldest stepdaughter, when she was about ten, decided she was a "punk" and wanted some punk rock.

So I made her up a tape of "kid friendly" punk and new wave: the Clash, the Ramones, Elvis Costello, Joe Jackson.

So I suppose a 12 year old could want the Clash.

As for what I'm listening to tonight: the Sdtk to "A Mighty Wind."

Interestingly enough, a lot of the songs are so straight sounding, and so pretty, that you really have to pay attention to catch the satire.

Speaking of punk, I am so psyched. I just found some of my favorite 80s 'cowpunk' albums by Jason and the Scorchers on CDs (having worn out my cassettes long ago). I can't wait to get off of work, get in my car, throw on songs like "White Lies," "Broken Whiskey Glass," "If Money talks" and their killer, killer, cover of Dylan's "Absolutely Sweet Marie," and pretend I'm back at my frat in college slam dancing and gatoring.

Now, all I need is a case of "National Bo" beer...

Ditto.

Loved that film and I'll be damned if the soundtrack ain't about the best thing since watching the movie!

The Diary of Alicia Keys. I received the album (and an autographed picture of Miss Keys) as an early birthday present last night. The entire album is great. Right now I'm listening to Karma (track 2).
