Computer at home still down. Writing this from friend's computer. Apologies for being a cheap arts type and not being able to afford a brand new computer.

Pro: You might wanna be a bit flexible with those plans you have to introduce your new character. You know... maybe.

Chewy: Congrats on getting the role. I have no acting stuff at the moment and it's pissing me off.
By the way, I'd love to have a crack at writing Griss and/or the EPS while you're away. If only in one post or two (that is, if I can get my net access back up and running). Let me know if you don't want me messing with your characters ("That guy?! He can't write the EPS! Look how badly he fucked up Omicron!").

I tried to access Rob's boards from the public library computers so I could post, and the site was blocked by one of those net nanny things. I blame the women forum.

Oh, don't worry. I've totally given up that entire scenario. Out of all the characters I wanted to use, only Griss, Grimm, and Chance would have been available.

I'll just do....something. I don't know. Maybe I'll just start an entirely new story-concept thread. One that has no planning built-in. Just a place to write, JUST to write.

Vanguard International: Australian Division anyone? [wink]

I, however, blame the Germans...

No, Pro, please. We are few now, we should stay unite over one thread story at a time.

Next story will be NOT planned at all. I will write the introduction, and then EVERYBODY will have the right to bring it in the direction he wants.

Introduce your character in a simply way, like Grimm (dropping from the sky) or the Doctor (entring from the door) did, and then play along. It's the better way.

Both. So "Yes."

You could...but you'd be running the risk of never using Sonja again. I don't know if/when I'll find the time to write Velo's subplot...

Well, the way I wanted to bring the new guy in was pretty darn simple to begin with. And, I could probably still find a way to get it done. We will see, once the next story starts...

However, the idea of a seperate contingent of Vanguardians, in another part of the world, intrigues me daily. Hell, you could take the B-Team and Blackwulf ALONE, and get a fun story thread in the same flair as JUSTICE LEAGUE ANTARCTICA, you know? A storythread where planning between each other was completely prohibited. Where there was no Talk Thread. Where you had to go in blind every time, and just try and write up to the post that you follow. Everyone could create a new character, or, just bring in an old one. The main story thread would be for the continuity-driven, planned personal epics, and, the new one could be just to write and have fun, with no purpose of trying to write "great" stories. A thread where the only rule is that you can't structure the story to achieve a specific end, unless it comes together like that by accident (ala' TOMB).

It's just a thought. One that I will continue to ponder. :)

Found some time to post, so I intro-ed a new menace for everyone to fight (in case you're getting bored with your present menaces - which I'm assuming everyone is, as no one's posted in a while...). So, feel free to fight the new Glitch drones, which should be popping up all over the place very soon (not just down where Griss, Velo, and Turner are). Also, I hope you all enjoy the short Walker interlude I put in... hopefully, you'll find it very... revealing...

"Hell, you could take the B-Team and Blackwulf ALONE, and get a fun story thread in the same flair as JUSTICE LEAGUE ANTARCTICA, you know?"
No, it happened exactly the opposite way. Some posters tried to have fun in that thread, and were politely asked to piss off. [wink] [biiiig grin]

I disagree with placing your "new team" in the same Universe of the main Vanguardian thread.

In the old Universe having the MBL AND Tomb sharing the same Universe was a minus, not a plus, in my mind. It created unnecessaries continuity holes and retcons.

I know what you would reply: "Don't care about continuity". I can even agree with you on that, but some other posters could think differently. And not just the one that are posting now, we must consider the others that (hopefully) one day will join us.

Even if we are going to keep a more "credible" continuity on the main story, and be more "easy" on the new team, things happening in one of the threads, I am sure, someone one day would be made compatible and recognized across the whole fictional Universe... and things will begin to fall.

That's why I am not too amazed with the Rogues story. I love it, and I write it, but for instance is something that collides with one of the foundation of this new Universe: that history was the same of the real universe up to the year 1996, and that "metas" are a thing of the present, not something that has been around through the centuries.

On the contrary, TTT idea of a spin off time travel team seemed more hermless to the main thread, because it would have featured a team lost in the timestream/multiverse, and would had no impact over the Vanguard world.

My main gripe is that more the team/threads are, less time could be spent over each story.

But, said that, I completely, fully agree on these words from you: "A storythread where you had to go in blind every time, and just try and write up to the post that you follow".
It something I have asked (clamored) for much time, for the main thread.
I think that should be the number one rule for our MAIN thread: if someone wants things different, it's acceptable, but that's for the solo stories.

I think what we really need is to make some basic rules for the HR threads, like we had in the old Universe:
1) one main character for each poster
2) not mess with that one character of each others poster (don't kill or permanently harm him/her)
3)continuity estabilished by the round robin thread has precedence over continuity of the solo stories.
4)Posts in the main story labeled as "Interludes" are to be considered like solo stories.

Just that. Planning not allowed: one or more posters start the story with a post or a series of posts, and then everyone follows freely.

I am sure our stories would improve a lot. And when something happen that don't bode with what we had in mind, that's a plus, not a detriment. Life, true life, works that way.

For my part, I will follow that rule strictly for the first story I will start after the current one*.

Before starting a new thread, Pro, please give the main one a try, bacause we had more than one tentative of doing stories "the old way", in this forum (Nightfall MBL, Penultimate MBL, All different MBL, even the Rogues, and all of them languish unfinished). I beg you to help the main thread to advance and be fun, you are the most suited of us all.

The story, each story, is just what the writers write. Nobody can't fail it. Oh, in the talk thread there will be a lot of bitching when something happen unexpected, but you know, that happen for the poorly written unexpected things, never for the greatly written unexpected ones.

And if there is something sure, is that from you something POORLY written will never come.

End rant.

*Gooz, if you read this, I think we could reconsider the fact to have your story after mine. I think this is not the best moment to do the old VS new team, delaying it after your one could help. Maybe.

Cool. I think we should bring all the heroes together. The "splitting teams" thing has been done to death in the past stories...
