i think the first thing i ever wanted to be was a carpenter.... but i dont remember why. biblical? guhdunno.

my biggest dream, tho, was to be a baseball player. centerfield for the new york yankees. its all i wanted, its all i did. i used to sleep with my baseball mit on my hand still.

now? ... id definitely have to go with actor / comedian / entertainer. modeled after, say, jerry seinfeld, or adam sandler, or mike meyers, or robin williams.

I wanted to be an artist and/or a priest as a kid.

Teenager a doctor ( I and again toyed with being a priest until I discovered the corruption involved behind the scenes of organized religions)

Now a director/producer to get some decent movies and/or television programs made.
Actually I tried out for the local fire department a few years back ( to be both a fireman and nurse is good money) but didnt have the juice to get in with the local politics involved.

When I was young I wanted to be a Jedi Knight when I grew up.

And now? I still want to be a Jedi Knight when I grow up.

As a child I enjoyed books and old movies and imitatively worked up my own stories both prose and in comic-book form. I was particularly fascinated by dinosaurs, too, and adopted as my first hero Roy Chapman Andrews, one-time director of the American Museum of Natural History and author of (among other things) ALL ABOUT DINOSAURS. It therefore struck me as logical that I should grow up to be a paleontologist, dig up some dinosaurs, and write books about the experience.

I broke into print, however, in the seventh grade with a poem about Hannibal (the Carthaginian general, not Samuel L. Clemens's hometown), and then, during my freshman year of high school, I discovered Mars -— the Mars of science fiction's two great romantics, Edgar Rice Burroughs and Ray Bradbury -- and somehow understood that I, too, must grow up to be A Writer, or at least a rich and famous person. Ten years later, I was one! A Writer, I mean.

When I was akid I wanted to be a fireman and I was for about 5 years. I also wanted to be a cop and I might have become a cop if it wasn't for my slightly deformed left knee cap, that and I wasn't sure I could shoot someone if it became necessary.

Yeah, me too! I loved Andrews! Now that I'm older, I've decided to use my love of biology to become a vet (which I remember every little girl wanted to be when I wanted to look at dead animals in rocks).

I was kind of an odd kid. I wanted to be a scientist... mostly because all the mad scientist-types I saw in cartoons seemed pretty cool.

I also wanted to be a comic-book artist, and I drew my own comics as a kid. Later on I got a comic-strip published professionally in a local Vancouver magazine, but after I finished that I never quite got around to returning to it...

I wanted to be a pediatrician but pre-med was not my cup of tea and I wanted to have a career and be out of school before I hit my 30's.
So, I still went into healthcare and evenually became a nurse (after taking the very long route....)

Actually, I don't know if Steve posts here, Steve has written published short stories and comics. That's wish fulfillment.

I wanted to be a comic artist..as a kid
so I drew my own comics on folded paper..

as a Teen I wanted to draw comics or get into design,,
I worked at a graphic design company and drawing houses blew..deadlines are a bitch..I almost had a comic pin up published, but it would have been in issue 3 and the book was cancelled after issue 2..it was independant, but hey I was also only 16...

Now I wanna be a Comic artist or own my own business..just haven't figured out what yet..
All I know is working in social services sucks...as does insurance and so does working for UPS and Pepsi Cola...although Wal Mart and Bartending were cool...

Right on. Me too.
Either a mad scientist or an inventor of some sort. But I didn't know how to invent stuff. I wanted to be a photographer or artist of some sort in highschool but then I realized how, above all, I want to be rich when I grow up. So right now I want to be a physicist. Maybe something with astronomy. Definately cosmology.

Oddly enough, there's a connection in all the things I initially wanted to be (crazy, scientist, inventor): I have an invention I want to make which bridges a gap between psychology and theoretical physics. And succeeding in that will make me rich.

Become my friend now, before I take over the world. [mwah hwah haa]

Cosmology: the study of the Universe as a whole. The beginning of time, the existance of other 'universes', the end of time.... the cosmos.

When I was young I wanted to be a pirate.

As a teenager I decided upon a career in Journalism. I almost became a journalist but I fucked it up and burned my bridges. I wasn't cut out for it anyway.

Now I don't know what I want and have ceased to care.

I went through all sorts of stages -- from a toy store owner as a child to later intentions of teaching. Previously, I planned to be an archaeologist until some crappy college experiences made me opt NOT to go to school for a decxade or more of degree-reaching. Since my Mid-Life Crisis on Infinite Earths at age 21, I've been training for comic art. After finishing my BA in Illustration in a year or so, I hope to get involving in the gee-whiz world of computer coloring (hoping to get a job with Wildstorm FX, as I've talked with Jim Lee about at some cons...)

When I was a young child, I remember my first aspiration for the future was to be a clown in the circus. Then, when I realized I could draw (a skill which has degraded itself to doodling), I wanted to be a Disney animator. Then, once I realized that there were people far more talented at drawing than myself, I began to take up the idea of forming a band. The only problem being that I had (some may argue "have") no musical ability. So, I took to writing songs for my friends that did have musical ability, which turned into a love for poetry, which I tried for a brief stint through high school. I eventually felt a leading to go into the ministry and be a pastor, so I went to college to study religion and philosophy. Once thre, I got involved in the theatre department, which has led me to believe that God has given me the ability to act for a reason. At present, I'm thinking of going into drama ministry of some sort or working as a professional actor. Either/or...
