Ok, so this lady wants to tax soda (Coke, Pepsi, Mountain Dew) cause she says it causes child obesity.

Let's tax water, and meat, and hell, even sunlight too.

I understand taxing tobacco, and alcohol, but isn't sugar already taxed anyway?

It's just something I saw on television - can't find the full article just yet...but this legislator out in Cali wants to tax soda so it will stop selling like it does, says it causes child obesity and if it was pricey, children couldn't buy it, and parents wouldn't buy so *much* of it.

but, i guess i kinda feel the same way about cigarettes. i mean, yeah, they're pure evil, and satan and all that, but... if people are STILL dumb enough to smoke'em, how is that the company's fault?

there's a frickin warning on them!! can you imagine if mcdonalds had to feature a warning on all their products?

cigarette's get taxed out the ass, and then sued for billions more, yearly. that sucks.

this soda tax is just insanity, based off of existing, accepted insanity. you wanna tax cigs? fine. its happening, lets keep doing it. but dont add more crap to the list.

As long as they never tax porn....I don't care.
