Getting serious for a minute...

Filling out resumes and applications...most have those "reason for leaving" on them and make the applications look less-than-spectacular.

Especially if you've walked out on a job before without notice.

I'm just curious, what do you put down in a situation like this?
I have always tried to show the positive, maybe fudging a little...but I suspect if they call the previous employer, then they get the whole truth. Any advice, any stories to share?

Always give 1 1/2 to 2 weeks notice before leaving a job...more if you know in advance.

I had a job I didn't want to put on my resume...so I skipped it and just said I was in college full-time at the time focusing on study.

You should be ok because by law, a previous employer can not supply anything more thn the dates you were employed. What I've had permanent jobs that have lasted as few as 3 months and when I lose those jobs, I've told people I'm interviewing with that I temped there and that I wasn't needed anymore. Course, I've temped on and off over the past 7 years so it's not much of a lie, even though I dont' like to fudge like that.

Sometimes employers give more info than they're supposed to though. So it's better to be safe by leaving with notice in a friendly as possible fashion, or leaving that company off your resume.
