Im not sure what the exact death toll is up to, but this morning on cbs news they announced that they are officially removing 50 names from the list of those that died in the trade centers. They reported the change due to illegal aliens located in the area or unofficially documented workers that didnt have enough or the correct paperwork to prove they were there on the fatal day.

they might have an official death toll, but im not sure if they have an accurate one. the number seems to change every other month -- even some 2 years later.

None of this makes any difference though,at the end of the day whether its 2000,2500 or 200,a lot of innocent people died.
I doubt anyone will ever know exactly how many people died that day!

I certainly welcome the news of more victims found alive (which began as a total of 6,000 victims) that has reduced to a total under 3,000

Meanwhile, let's not forget that another cost of 9-11 was taking a trillion dollars out of the U.S. economy, pushing the country into recession that the U.S. was just about to pull out of in September 2001, and the additional necessary cost of homeland security and additional defense spending.

I had wondered why the terrorists would choose to strike the WTC, after the first bombing attempt. I mean, it was just a very very tall building, with some residual significance as being a symbol of New York's financial clout.

Recognising now that a successful attack on the building had such serious consequences, I can see why terrorists did target it.
