I bought the hype behind this, and picked up the new issue of Aquaman. So far, Will Pfiefer has yet to dissapoint me on anything else he's written, so I gave it a try. I generally liked the book and the story. I think the art leaves something to be desired, but I've seen worse. I'll check out the rest of the arc.
My big question was this, though, if there's any regular DC buffs out there: When did Lex Luthor lose the presidency? I don't read many mainstream DC books lately, and this threw me off. And it also seemed to throw the new creative team off too. If you look closely at Pete Ross' head and face throughout the issue, it's drawn in a different style as everything else. It's more sketchy, more rushed, like a last minute change.

Really, what purpose has he served as President in the DCU lately? He's had an appearance in Outsiders, otherwise nothing has been done with him. Time for a change I say.

...if they wanted to give him a new visual appearance, why nto give him gills in his neck (three stripes like a shark's gills), and beef him right up so he's huge - much bigger than Supes, even, so his appearance reflects his strength (ocean pressures and all that).
I'd make him ghostly white, too. There isn't too much sunlight on the ocean floor, and he has no need for pigmentation. He could wear very dark sunglasses when he's on the surface.
I suppose he could also shoot ink out his arse too like a squid, but I doubt the Comics Code Authority would like it.

I'd go with that. Make him hairless, as well. More streamlined for swimming.
Anything's better than that retro-crap orange.....yeesh! Didn't they learn anything from Superfriends?

I'd raise Atlantis. That way they would be a surface nation liek old Atlantis..the they could magically make themselves breath oxygen like normal and not need constant h2o....
