NATALIE PORTMAN BEING CONSIDERED FOR LOIS LANE?

Word reaches us that WB have more than just casting Superman on their minds. Rumour has it that one of the actresses they are looking at for Lois Lane is none other than Natalie Portman.

Portman has just finished shooting Episode III in Sydney and could find herself back there as soon as next year should the WB greenlight McG's movie. Would this be a good move for her though? Would she really want to do another high-profile blockbuster role on the back of Star Wars?

We asked her agent about this. Have WB been in talks with her about the part? They didn't deny it: "Nothing's conclusive"... What the heck does that mean!? Has she been in talks and nothing is signed and sealed!? Or are they refusing to deny it since they don't want to totally rule out the possibility of her going up for the role?

Obviously whoever plays Superman will have a lot to do with who they choose for Lois. With 20 year old Henry Cavill (who we revealed a month ago) now front runner for the Man Of Steel the WB will be looking for an actress of a similar age for his fellow co-worker/damsel in distress Miss Lane. Portman, 22, fits the bill and as we are told is one of a group of young actresses currently being considered.

BRENDAN FRASER ON TRL

SuperheroHype has a report on Brendan Fraser's appeareance on TRL.

Carson Daily asked Brendan if he was still considering Superman or if he was up for it and Fraser paused and hugged a pillow and leaned forward and asked the crowd on if they thought he could pull it off. They cheered. He said that everyone over 6'2 is being considered. He said after they cheered that "Well I guess that's a message to WB's right there". Carson asked if he wanted to do it and he said, "Hey, it's The man of steel, who doesn't want to be Superman?". Carson also asked if the movie was even happening and Fraser responded, " There have been script problems and director problems and on and on and on. This just happened at 1:49am Florida time.

KYM BARRETT INTERVIEW

AICN posted an excerpt of an interview with costume designer Kym Barrett from a Swedish newspaper. Here is what she had to say.

And what about Superman? How are those tights coming along?

"I can't say very much about that right now, but we are working on the construction of the fabric for the costume. We have a bunch of chemical engineers and fabric designers working together and trying to invent a new, exciting material. You have to bear in mind that Superman is an extraterrestrial, from an entirely different planet, so the fabric must not resemble anything we have here on Earth."

The film is planned to begin shooting in May and June 2004 and is more than a year away from being on screen. There isn't even an actor chosen for the part of Superman yet, but Kym says they do have a favorite in the run -- a secret, of course.

"He's an unknown actor, but he's gorgeous."

Doesn't sound like she's talking about Brendan Fraser does it? A Mr Cavill perhaps?

If they aren't going to go with an unknown, my first choice would be Frasier. He can do jut-jawed hero ("the Mummy"), mild-mannered nerd ("Blast from the Past") and, based on films like "Gods and Monsters," "the Quiet American," and "School Ties," can actually act when called upon to do so.

1. It's still the Abrams script, with Peters producing and McG directing. It's still going to suck no matter who gets cast.

2. Cavill, according to a Superman-V.com report from a month or so back, is being considered because WB thinks casting him will rally fan support around Peters/Abrams/McG. The poor guy's apparently being used as a power play over the fans. That's not very fair to him.

3. Portman as Lois...if I was her boyfriend (one of the guys from Y Tu Mama Tambien, I'd be watching my back. Peters is known for chasing after his female leads, and busted up Kim Basinger's marriage during the shooting of Batman just so he could get her for himself. And he did. This wouldn't be a very good situation for Portman to get herself into.

4. Is anyone else hoping this movie never happens? The people behind it have no respect for the property, they don't know what they're doing, and the ideas they throw out keep getting worse and worse. They've already wasted at least $50 million on this movie already with no results, so why don't they just give up already? Oh, wait, that's right. That would require they grow a brain.

any man who "hugs a pillow" while on national televison with Carson Daly....must be more gay than rob himself!
