Does anyone have any favourite levels or sections of a particular game?

- you know, the parts that you want to play over and over because they're just so utterly fantastic.

Actually, in the Star Wars Pod Racer game there were two tracks which I did over and over again.

First one was track where you flew through tunnels in zero gravity. The second was the one from the movie, the Boonta Eve race

I loved that game, it was so utterly fast that it was hard to keep up with it

I love Lockout on Halo 2 thanks to some cool jumps I learned.

The greatest levels that come to mind are both water temples in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. In Mario Kart 64 it's the Rainbow Road hands down. For Perfect Dark, the Pipes level is the best for multi-player.

Half-Life 2 – (Chapter 7) - Highway 17

It’s hard to pick out one part of Half-Life 2 as being superior to the rest, since it’s pretty much fantastic from beginning to end. I chose Highway 17 because the first time I played through it I was totally immersed. It easily counts as one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences I’ve had. When that part of the game was over I was in two minds as to whether to carry on or go back to earlier saved positions and play through it again.

The level sees Gordon Freeman driving a battered dune buggy along a rugged stretch of coastal road; however it is not a straight drive. There are isolated cliff-top houses to be explored and ransacked for supplies; Combine roadblocks; strange landmines that stick to your buggy and force it over onto its back; Where the Asphalt has collapsed you are forced down onto the beach which is strewn with the rusting hulks of ships and is populated by Ant Lions.

One point in the level has you assisting resistance forces as they fight off an air raid. Another sees you climbing into the cabin of a crane which you can also use to drop shipping containers on your enemies.

The level ends in with Gordon Freeman negotiating the girders and broken walkways on the underside of a railway bridge. On the return journey the hazard of missing a step and plunging hundreds of feet into the sea is made even more difficult by the fact that a Combine Gunship is circling overhead.

Highway 17 is a masterpiece of imaginative and balanced level design - beautiful to look at and with a huge variation in the gameplay, which means that it never really gets dull.

The Modron Maze from Planescape Torment, that first stage with all the snow in Halo, and the Sunnydale High level from Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds.

I liked In Combat (Atari circa 1985) when the screen would change from yellow to brown.

as far as hatred goes, I hate FPS levels that require precise timing of jumps. Especially if missing platforms means I have to fall through lava or spikes. Could go either way on bottomless pits and radioactive chemicals.

Bowser's castle is the %#$@%$ bomb!

I think my fave track in a Kart game has to be the Mario babies level in Double Dash. It's so simple (it just goes round and round in a small oval) but with enough items littering the floor, it can get real interesting real quick. Plus, I've had more close races on that level than any other, methinks.

Just to be different: I liked the level in Catwoman where she was headed to the concert hall. You had to keep moving through the construction zone, as there was constant sniper fire on your ass...and the whole time shit's blowing up around you and the scaffolding is giving out under your feet. I still haven't managed to get a perfect score on that level.

The entire Metroid Prime. I've played that through at least 3 or 4 times. I don't know how they fucked it up, but the second one is missing something that makes it feel more like a bloody chore to play than any actual fun.

Back in the days of Sega Genesis, I absolutely loved all the levels from Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles. Every friggin' level was fun. I went back and tried to play it again...well...it sure wasn't what I remember. I forgot all the secrets too.

I still remember the lava level in the Genesis version of Aladdin to be one of the dopest levels I can remember. When you finally escape that place you have a borderline orgasm from the suspense.

But, I bet bowser owned them. His kids were too young to legally buy a ship. So tecnically wednesday is right.
