If they were a vegetable and there was no chance of recovery, would you pull the plug and let them die?

depends on which kind of vegetable, doesn't it.

Brocolli, no.

celery, yes.

Pulling the plug, probably.

Pulling a feeding tube so they slowly starve to death, not so likely.

This is why it is a good thing for everyone to have a living will and/or health care power of attorney.

I think it's much easier to say I would than it would be to actually do it.

If it was an immediate family member (if it wasn't, it probably wouldn't fall on me to decide) I would want to hold onto the hope that he or she would recover, no matter how improbable it was and pathetic it made me.

So, to answer your question, I'm not so sure I'd have the heart.

Depends on the situation and how much I hate the relative. So yes.
