one of my favourite books being published, or that was being published at least, was Eric Shanower's phenomenal Age of Bronze; a historical retelling on the Trojan War. Shanower's love of the material is obvious and his skill shows in his work as he transports the reader back in time. Shanower recreates the world of the Bronze age vividly all the while making his characters understandable, human, and relatable. not the easiest task in the world.

the first Age of Bronze trade "A Thousand Ships" has been out for a while and if the second trade "Sacrifices" isn't already out it should be soon. i haven't seen an issue on the stands in some time and it'd be a shame if a book this good was cancelled. even if another issue of AoB isn't released those two trades are both worth getting and are excellent examples of epic storytelling at its best.

I talked to Eric recently and he said it would be out and back on a regular schedule sometime this summer...there are no problems, but I think he had to do some freelance stuff to supplement his income or something...

When it does come back it will be more regular than it was...

i thought your review was spot on, i totally agree.

it's great to hear that Age of Bronze will be returning to shelves soon, it's too good of a book to disappear.

Piggo's love of the series is legendary. He kindly sent me the first tpb as a gift, for which I am yet to repay him.

I enjoyed it, but wasn't wrapped in it. Despite being familiar with the Iliad (I studied it in my undergrad degree) I found the plotting to be a little convoluted because the writer tried to jam everything in it including Shakespeare. He also bypassed the gods' involvement through dream sequences, when I think the split amongst the Olympains was fundamental to the story. Nice art too - reminscent of Perez or Jiminez.

Pimping my site, again.
