It's a crock that the Kentucky/Arizona showdown is scheduled to be in the Final Four and not the championship game.

If I post something about this, I might not stop, so for now I'll just leave it at that...maybe I'll provide something later...

I'm goin with Illinois out of that one though.

Okay here we go, my elite eight;

Kentucky and Pitt

Illinois and Duke

Texas and UConn

Oklahoma and NC State

I want Carmelo Anthony to take it out of the sixteen too Animalman but I don't think it's gonna happen this year.

LM: Your Elite Eight would be kinda difficult to pull off, since Texas/UConn and Oklahoma/NC State would take place before that round...

My EE:

Kentucky, Pittsburgh
Arizona, Duke
Texas, Florida
'homa, 'cuse

Final Four:

Kentucky, Zona, Florida, Oklahoma. Yeah, look how daring I am, three 1 seeds in the Final Four. [nyah hah] [yuh huh]

Championship:

Wildcats over Oklahoma. The Wildcats in question would be of the Arizona variety. I seem to be the only one with faith in the preseason #1.

I don't really have any 'dark horses' in this tournament, except maybe Wisconsin, but how much of a dark horse is the Big Ten champion, even in an off-year?

Just in case anybody cares(A-man?), on the women's side I have Duke upsetting UConn, with Virginia as a possible dark horse.

I won't bother with either NIT because those things are far tougher to predict than the big dance.

The matchups I'm hoping to see the most in this tournament are Arizona/Kentucky and Marquette/Pittsburgh.

Well, I'm one of the many who thinks this year is all we're going to get in the way of seeing Carmelo in Syracuse orange.

I had Arizona as the walkoff winners since the preseason....up until the conference tourney, when Lute Olsen's response after Arizona lost early on was along the lines of "Who cares?"

That doesn't sound like a man who wants to win. I like Arizona, I do think they have the best team....but I also think Tubby Smith wouldn't let his team be ok with losing. Ever.

Plus, I'm a hardcore Kentucky fan so I probably would have ended up picking them in the end, anyway, out of pure blind faith.

The season champion, or the conference tourney champion?

I actually have Wisconsin losing in the first round, to Weber State(one of the "nobody knows about em" teams this year).

Despite the 'Nova loss, I can't have anyone else in the winner's circle this year. I think it's better, actually, that they had that loss in the season, as opposed to the tourney. It had to happen sometime, and now that it has, the pressure's lifted and they can start anew.

Season champion, they flamed out in the first round of the conference tourney. They did last year, too, and were able to win one in the NCAAs. I think they're team is better this year(and it should be noted that the senior class are the last ones who were part of that Final Four run in 2000).

It's definitely possible. I've heard a few people thinking the same way. The legacy of Harold "The Show" Arceneaux.

I'm thinking similarly about Duke losing to UConn earlier this year.

If it comes down to Alana Beard v. Dina Taurasi, I think it's no contest in Alana's favor. When they were matched up in the second half of the aforementioned game, she schooled Taurasi on both ends of the court. But she'll need somebody else on her team to actually show up this time. [eh... i dunno... ]

My predictions:
East--Syracuse
West--Arizona
Midwest--Pittsburgh
South--Maryland

Final Four--Syracuse over Maryland
Arizona over Pittsburgh

And your 2003 NCAA Division 1 men's basketball national champion is....

Arizona!

Ah, yeah, I was pretty sure Illinois had won the conference tourney.

Heh, I was thinking the same thing. Quite a performance he put on a few years ago, when Weber St. upset UNC(and nearly beat Florida, too). Whatever happened to him?

That's what concerns me. UConn doesn't just put one All American caliber player on the court, they put five.

Stupid West bracket's still got me pissed off...

Illinois has virtually no chance, since the NCAA's shafted them on the seeding. They have to go through ND, ARZ or Gonzaga (always dangerous in the tourney...) and then Duke or Kansas to get to the final four. What kind of horse shit is that?!?!?!

Otherwise, it would be a pretty cool bracket to watch...

I had Illinois going to the Sweet 16, I liked their squad. I definitely wouldn't have forseen ND beating them, not after their unimpressive first round performance.

Notre Dame should've lost due to a missed layup at the end against UW-Milwaukee. Similar thing happened a few years ago with Florida against Butler, and the Gators immediately became the tourney's most dangerous team, making it to the championship game.

Similarly, Maryland, after requiring a miracle buzzer beater to beat UNC-Wilmington, demolished 3rd ranked Xavier.

Dwayne Wade probably solidified his lottery pick status with that triple double tonight. His game was as airtight as possible.

Arizona proved that they were absolute pansies on the inside tonight. Everytime Collison or Graves wanted a rebound they got it.

Even though it disrupts my picks terribly, I'm dying for a Marquette/Syracuse final. Wade, Anthony and Hakim Warrick...it could be legendary...

.......................kentucky [sad]

My bracket is completely fucked now. It's that fuckwhore Kirk Penny's fault. He injured Bogans. He will die.

I'm pulling for Texas even more now.
