Funny stuff to be sure however love him or hate him he did bring wrestling to the masses.I remember back in the day how the WWF shows were nothing but a bunch of jobber no-names who "wrestled" the superstars and you almost never saw bigger names at each other until closer to a PPV.Back then, when someone like Hogan showed up or Macho or Roddy Piper....you sat up to take notice. You knew that a "feud" was gonna start & the next PPV(which was a quarterly event then)was gonna resolve it.Now most of the big names had some solid wrestling skills but, like someone said in that article further down,Hogan carried the biz back then & having him as champ kept them watching.I myself didn't mind Hogan not having the belt because I knew eventually he'd get it back down the road in a big event.

However by the time Wrestlemania IX rolled around,Hogan was getting stale. His "Mega-Maniacs"tag team was kinda stupid & compared to the wrestlers who were gaining popularity such as Razor Ramone(who was the heel in his match vs. Backlund yet got cheered when he won)started showing which way the wind was blowing.....the anti-hero wrestler was becoming popular.

When Hogan got to WCW to feud with Flair on a non-stop basis,it was really more of the same schtick.NOw the original idea behind nWo was brilliant.Take some well-known face names from WWF,turn them heel but as a takeover tactic & then the ultimate face...Hulk Hogan...JOINS them.Holy crap!! I'll never forget the way fans reacted everytime Hogan came out after that.trash...bottles...anything was being thrown in the ring. You couldn't help but be riveted......of course this too got old after a while. After WCW folded,it was only a matter of time that Hogan rejoined the WWF.And when he did...no matter how hard they first tried to play the heel-factor up...he kept getting huge pops from the crowd.Hogan ain't a bad guy....bad wrestler but not a bad guy. It's a nostalgia thing to have him out there & I don't mind as long as the WWF doesn't get carried away with nostalgia and bring back Doink & Dink or the MVP*shudder*.

I wonder where Savage is & what he's doing these days now.I miss him on commentary with Vince.

Well you know now, they'll have say Jericho wrestle Benoit...heel vs. face. Two well known wrestlers doing a match.Out comes HHH.He runs down the aisle & attacks Benoit with a sledge setting up their feud to lead into the next PPV.Back then it was Yokozuna vs. three guys you never heard of & out comes Lex Luger....and he stands there....does nothing.Yokozuna wins the match...Lex points his finger at Yoko & leaves....hops on a bus & travels the countryside on the Lex-Express bound for Wrestlemania. Differnt times....different kind of build ups but I guess my point is the jobbers of today are(more or less)well-known names. They win matches....are in PPVs.There's not a Gillberg or Brooklyn Brawler in the bunch.

Very eloquently put.
Now for my equally eloquent rebutal.

Hogan is and will always be a cunt!
