Statement regarding Roddy Piper
Since March 31, 2003, World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (“WWE”) and Roderick Toombs, p/k/a “Roddy Piper”, have attempted to negotiate the terms of an arrangement for Roddy to appear on WWE programming through August of this year. The parties have been unable to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
On Tuesday, June 24, Piper appeared on an HBO program and revealed disturbing facts about his own personal drug use. Piper stated that he used drugs for many years while working in professional wrestling and that he does not like the person that he becomes when he actively performs as a professional wrestler.
In view of WWE’s inability to reach agreement on a contract and to assist Piper from engaging in any self destructive behavior, the WWE is ending any further discussion with Piper regarding a contract.
The WWE sincerely hopes for Piper and his family that Roddy can find happiness.

I have to agree with Nowhereman again(!). I still don't get what they thought they were going to accomplish bringing Piper in, anyway. He didn't draw when WCW brought him in and he had some of the worst matches in history during that time. It's not like being away for several years improved him any. Hopefully he gets any drug problems squared away, though, if he hasn't already. Didn't see the program, but that certainly don't sound good. Don't need to see another Jake Roberts, y'know?

Not if they get rid of the old guys.
If the young guns who will carry WWE into the future start leaving,then they have a problem!
Its all well & good living off past glories,but its the future they really need to concentrate on!

Guys like Taker,Triple H,Angle & Jericho are still big enuff names to pull crowds,but with the exception of Trips,they are not given a chance as Vinnie Mac,Hogan,Stone Cold & Piper are given precidence!
Give Y2J,Booker & RVD proper pushes & everybody will forget the old boys!
Newer guys like Cena need the same push given to Lesnar,& less air time being given to washed up hasbeens like Hogan,Goldberg & Steiner!
