so yeah. just a little idea I've had floating around here of late. I wanted to play around with some streamlined versions of characters with no other ties to anything. And this is what I eventually came up with.

it's just a brief introductory blurb to make way for the first story, which I've got in mind now. I may introduce other Agents if I work on this long enough and I'm sure I'll toss in references to older stuff here and there for you other "old timers" to chuckle at.

But for now this is it. I'd like to do some stuff with this group before adding too much else in or making "crossovers" or stuff like that.

Let me try to do something with these guys for a while.

I finally got inspired and started working on this tonight. It's not ready for posting yet, but it's a step towards it.

two more posts! yay!

the second post, if you can't tell, was written by Prometheus. a spontaneously written piece inspired by seeing the opening pain agents stuff as I was working on it.

Nice guy, that Charles Walker. thanks, Walrus.

I'm enjoying writing the Pro character a lot. little bit of Elijah Snow, little bit of Spider Jerusalem so far.

Strangely enough, that post of mine you put up is the first thing I've written in....how long? Awhile, anyway. Weird what spontaneity will do for you...

I almost started to suggest doing a back-and-forth with you Grimm...where you make a post with Pro's group, and I write stuff to counter it with Mal's group. But, I can't promise to be that consistent in posting. Still, the idea of creating character based off posters on these boards (ala' original TOMB) is a tempting notion.

But, keep up the story. I'm digging it.

that'd be fun if we could get some consistent writing/posting time. once I get all my files changed over to the laptop, I should be able to get more work done.

I'm trying to work out in my head right now the next few scenes. I want to keep these stories kind of short and quick. no year long in the making epics here. heh.

so, time has passed. lot goin on. but I find myself with some free time and a desire to still finish up my old stuff. but as often happens when you come back to something later, it looks a bit different. I still liked the initial idea for this, but the plot didn't interest me any more.

but something else did. so goodbye, P.A.I.N. Agents. Welcome back, The End!

and to short circuit the inevitable question, no that is not where I would have taken Vanguard. it is simply me extrapolating on where the group might have gone if certain events had come to pass and Mxy not sneezed. ;\)

I actually don't have big plans for most of those guys in this one. they'll be in there, fighting the fight, but probably won't be center stage much.

but you do need characters like that in a story of the scale yours seems to be, otherwise the narrative gets way too sparse. however interesting the protags may be, people usually want to know what's going on elsewhere while the central struggles are transpiring...

How did you know what I was doing while reading the... ohhh. Nevermind.

Pretty cool story there, Grimmers. The name was Fox, by the way, and I don't remember him having shapeshifting powers in the past, but it wouldn't that much of a stretch to say he developed them (I'm sure we could come up with some pseudo-scientific explanation saying he can alter his own DNA to re-grow body parts differently, but I don't think that'll be necesary.)

thanks, but I believe you've confused Link Fox/Gerardo Gorm with Spamm's VE charcter Tommy Foxe, who was a shapeshifter. no relation that I know of. ;\)

You should've edited the typo before saying that, thus making me doubt my sanity. Pretty careless there, Grimmers.

This story is epic. It makes my nuts itch with awesome. The original "Prometheus X" character from the DC Boards MBL stuff. Back in '99. For fucks sake, Grimm, I had completely forgotten about that character. What a pull from the past.

I want more story, faster! Harder! Shove that story in me deeeeeply!!!
