You're just mad because the gay movie isn't winning.

LOL.

It's Hollywood, babe. They're all gay movies. And Jew movies. There'd be no cinematic art in this country without the gays and the Jews.

If you've seen it, then yes, you could vote for it in our forum because this forum views it as a 2005 release.

I haven't seen Narnia or King Kong yet either. Maybe there are other factors to what we see and when other than whether a movie has gay cowboys in it or not.

Well, step out of whatever comfort zone you use to determine whether you do or don't see a movie and go see the damned thing. You afraid somebody will see you going in and think you're a queer?

I don't know Jim.

One of my favorite TV shows was/is "Six Feet Under." One of the two main characters on that was a gay funeral director who was shown in a monogamous relationship pretty much no different than a "st8" one and, in fact, at times, the gay character was the most likeable character on the show.

I knew the guy was gay when when I started watching the show and it never bothered me. I squirmed a little, I'll admit, when the gay characters would kiss. But at the same time, the show was about a fully rounded set of characters, one of whom who happened to be gay, and I found it interesting, well written and different.

On the other hand, I simply have no interest in seeing this movie in no small part to the fact that I just don't like "chick flicks," regardless of whether the "doomed lovers" are gay or "st8".

And, with all due respect, I haven't seen a single thing about this movie that, to my mind at least, differentiates it from any other maudlin "they were consumed by a love that couldn't be" film that's earned the "chick flick" moniker, other than a Willie Nelson title track and the fact that one of the chicks is, well, a dude.

I enjoy going to the movies and seeing different kinds of films. If all I saw last year was the comic book-sci-fi movies I would have gotten bored with it.

I still do not want to see brokeback mountain. Here are some reasons:

Ang Lee.
He has to be one of the most overhyped directors ever. Crouching tiger hidden dragon almost put me to sleep. The hulk was boring and had very little to do with the comic.

I don't want to see two guys making out.
I'm all for gay rights and everything, but I don't want to see bubble boy and some other guy making out.

I'm already sick of hearing about it.
How many brokeback mountian jokes and threads have there been here? I can't stand something thats been this hyped. you and g-man constant bickering over it has made me not care even more.
I don't care how many awards its won.

Maybe I just don't want to pay $8 to watch a coupla dudes make out.

I have a simple formula for what it takes to get me in a theater. It has to be a movie that I have to see on the big screen (i.e. a big FX film that looks really cool), something that I just can't wait to see (i.e. Walk The Line because is was Johnny Fuckin' Cash!!!), or someone else pays. Otherwise it'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD or on one of the movie channels while I'm at my parents' house for me to see it. This movie has met none of those requirements.

I'm beginning to think that Brokeback Mountain is the gay Passion of the Christ. You know, the "get them in the theaters and convert them" type of deal.

Dude, movies cost over ten bucks for a ticket these days. I want to see something spectacular.

I was just thinking that - tickets here are $10.50 and if you pre-order them they are $12. Like Jaburg, unless its a movie I really want to see, I can wait for it to show up on cable.

Dear, sweet Harley Kwink...I'm madly in love with you. Marry me! We can go to Canadia. Or Boston or something. It'll be grand...You know the cookies are a given. They are ALWAYS a given. You could dump me tomorrow and you'd still get the cookies. Boston..shit, wherever dyke weddings were legalized. And where better to rub their little piggie noses in how bad they suck than right on their doorstep? What are they gonna do? Be jealous of you? Stare furiously at your tah-tahs? Not willingly give you cookies, but instead begrudgingly give you their cookies? Woman, time to wake up to the powers you wield - Uschi

Ok, it's not a chick flick. If you haven't seen it, don't say that it is one. It's not.

I despise "chick flicks."

BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN does not have as its goal to turn anyone gay.

Rather, its story is an examination of the human condition of gays, specifically gay men, to show the personal cost of them just being who they are and trying to wring a small measure of happiness from their lives.
