Mrs G and I went to see this today.

At first I wasn't that into seeing it. However, Mrs G had bought into the hype and, figuring that it had to be better than some of the Euro art house trash she drags me to on other rainy Sundays, I said "sure, let's go."

It was actually a lot of fun.

There were some stupid parts, of course, but nothing particularly dumber than the average summer Hollywood blockbuster (including, sorry Pro, Superman Returns).

Obviously, Jackson sold a lot of the film. But there were solid turns from other cast members, including Juliana Marguiles, Bobby Cananvale, and David "Anchorman" Koechner too.

Overall, I'd recommend it.

Saw it yesterday. Surpricingly well-made, fun and thrilling.

But then what could you expect from a movie with the 2 most scary things in the world: snakes and Samuel L. Jackson.

What?

(Snitched that joke from a comic strip.)

"Batman is only meaningful as an answer to a world which in its basics is chaotic and in the hands of the wrong people, where no justice can be found. I think it's very suitable to our perception of the world's condition today... Batman embodies the will to resist evil" -Frank Miller

"Conan, what's the meaning of life?"
"To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women!"
-Conan the Barbarian

"Well, yeah."
-Jason E. Perkins

"If I had a dime for every time Pariah was right about something I'd owe twenty cents."
-Ultimate Jaburg53

"Fair enough. I defer to your expertise."
-Prometheus

It wasn't bad enough to be good in an ironic way, but it wasn't good enough to be good on its own merits. It was a generic summer action movie with a catchy title and a great(but probably overused) one-liner.

Yeah, Sam Jackson is great and all, but the movie could and should have been a lot better(or, rather, worse, which would have made it more enjoyable).

That makes some of the edits/dubs in Lebowski look almost coherent,
