So, the main writer's kid dies, which delays the book for about 6 to 12 months at a time, and if that wasn't enough, they do a bullshit multiple cover 'all-star writer artist' jam issue that's jacked up another buck than the normal cost starring people who aren't the normal stars of the book. And the title still isn't caught up (coverdated one month behind). And they try to tie in 'Sam's' death with that of Superboy. 'Cuz it's symbolic and stuff. And there's some carptasticular story about Robin and Superboy trying to find the lameass new Toyman. In the process Superboy saunas with nekkid robot versions of Starfire, Raven and Cassie, giving the artist an opportunity to 'discreetly' draw bubbles around their teehoobitties. Those will be the pages in the store that stick together. Self-indulgent wankfest. Quitcher mopin' and get this title out on time. Spoilers. Save yorself 4 (or 8) bucks. ![](/images/graemlins/default/comicguy-icon00.gif)

I was going to review this and say how much I liked it. The story was a little weak....yes. But the multiple artists was really cool. The story at the end was really touching and in general it was a nice feel good story. I thought it was worth it.

It was a fill-in-type story in a book that resisted using fill-in stories to placate the primadonna writer/artist, dispite the books' shit-sorry publication schedule. Fuck da hypocrites. The multiple artists took me out of the story and was jarring to keep track WTF was going on. Superboy in the hottub? Didn't make jack-all sense. Wank, wank, wank.

The extra money for it goes to a scholarship at the school Sam Loeb went to. If you objected to it, you shouldn't have bought it. You knew all along that it was drawn/written by 26 different people. It's not as if this is the first and only book to be delayed, at least there was a legitimate reason for it this time.
I thought it was a good story, especially the second story. It really got to me because I had a 17 yr old friend die when I was in high school too.

It got me too. I was moved by the whole experience. A person like Loeb deserves to do something like this and kudos to DC for letting him do it. RIP Sam.

I haven't read this yet, but if PJP says it's alright then that's good enough for me!
Just wish he had spoiled it.

Well, what you think I 'know' and and what I know are two different things.
FTR, I had forgotten about the whole 'tribute' deal, and thought it was the next issue. It was in my stack for the week, and this title's been on the cusp of getting cut for a while.
As for a legitimate reason, fuck that. People die, lives move on. If they wanted a book out on time, have fill-ins. But wait... they won't do fill-ins because it's {insert artist/writer team HERE}... and when they do finally have a fill-in, it's some nepotism-inspired dreck pandering to the regular team. But, I suppose it's a more sure-thing than trying to do the same thing through the Make A Wish Foundation.
He was 17? Well, I'd say the story read more like a 12-year-old wrote it. Disjointed donkey droppings.
Maybe if Justice #11 starts to run late, it'll be alright if Alex Ross' autistic albino near-death brother does the art in crayons.

Please don't knock 12 years olds and how they write. We have a resident 12 year old here name Kristogar Velo who wrote an excellent story called "Baltimore".

I don't know I've never read past the first line. But I do know it's in the writer's block forum.

its self-indulgent and a little weird. its one thing if he wrote a story that was personal to him, its another thing to flat out sell an issue on the merits that the son of the writer died. Its another sign that the comic book industry is becoming little more than one big in-joke.
Bow ties are coool.

The mark of a clever writer is to deal with a personal issue in a way that flows with the story. The mark of a hack is to try and sell one of his dead son's crap stories and give him a pricey memorial issue when most people don't know, or care, who he is.

Reeve's had no children. His equipment was paralyzed along with his legs. Please try and show some respect.

Hey it's a free country.....you no like you no buy! I liked it and I appreciated it for what it was. I've read worse stories by the likes of Devin Grayson and others this year.

Speaking of in-jokes and nepotism...
