I recently downloaded Photoshop (Nowhereman!) and have no idea how to use the fucker.

Yeah, I bookmarked the Photoshop thread that Gob built, just for banners. And, I've been reading over the Doc thread in here.

But, if I wanted to build a banner for the Comics forum or the Random Chat....

1) How do I go about creating that background stretched pic? Size requirements? Etc.?

2) Is the "Magic Lasso" tool...is it the only proper tool to use to crop a specific character or person out of a pic? And, if so, what do you do with it once you've done so?

If this is too broad, or would take too long to explain, that's cool. I'll continue to fuck with it...

no time for detailed writeups now, but... just remember, photoshop is a beast. a massive, massive beast. infinite power, iddy biddy living space. y'gotta go slow with it. i've been using it forever, and im sure i barely know half the program.

its very easy to feel overwhelmed with it at first. so, if you really, actually wanna get some knowledge with it, i'd search out a pshop tutorial site, just to run you through the basics.
