I think they have realised that there are only so many more WWII FPS games that people will buy.

No in game play footage, which comes as no surprise, as most software house only seem to include FMV and cut scenes in their trailers these days anyway, but this still looks awesome!

Now that looks fun. Much better visually than all these re-hashes.

The COD game engine is pretty well developed, and has looked good on pretty much every system its been on, so factor in that this is gonna be that engine (albeit tweaked I'm sure) mixed with the modern setting, it should be fucking awesome.

I really look forward to this on the PS3 as COD3 was one of the launch games I got, and is easily my fave online game.
Also, as COD3 was not developed for the PS3, and was merely an update of the PS2 verion or a port from the 360/PC, means for me this being developed for the PS3 parallel with the other formats, should be fucking awesome!

You aint fucking kidding!
For the first time in years I skipped buying the new WWE game on day of release as I wanted the violence of this so much more.

While I loved COD3, I knew it wasnt as good as it could be, being that it was essentially a port.
COD4 though, being developed simultaneously with other systems, looks and plays so much better.

I'll probably rent it, but I'm more interested in Haze. Plus, I gotta pace my FPS interests. I already forsee at least 5 going in my library.

Main game is way too short.
Its a fraction of the size of COD3, Fall of man or FEAR!

There are both ups and downs for online play.

On the plus side, the graphics and animation do not suffer at all, with no major glitches that I have seen.

On the downside.
Its still as hard to find a game to play just like COD3, but even worse is there are less options as well.
In COD3, during a match, you recieved promotions but then started again from scratch when you started a new game.
In COD4, you keep these promotions.

You cannot drive jeeps or tanks from what I see, but somehow you can fly a chopper (nnot sure how as I have only had it used against me so far).

I see a lot of stuff gets unlocked the more you play, but actually unlocking this stuff seems a lot harder than necessary.

When die in a game, you can no longer select the type of soldier you are (sniper, heavy assault etc), and are stuck with the type you initially selected.

Its possible that the game will get better the more you unlock, but its bloody annoying that you only have 2 types of game available initially (free for all & team death match).

Oh, and voice chat is supported.

I have played online for the last few hours, and it does improve as you unlock more stuff!

Apparently you can switch class by pressing "start" during the game, so when you die, you can re-pick your class!
I have created my own class called "bastard" (cunt comes later), and picked a nice lil weapon set up.

I have also ulocked one of the perks, so sometimes when I die, I can now lay on the floor and either get in a few shots with my sidearm or commit suicide!

I must admit I was gonna pass on Call of Duty 4, but yet again - a mate told me to try it out and it was great. I like the fast hit and run attack in the game and they way you can advanced with ya character. Im gonna buy this game in next week.

Does the PC version have checkpoints, or can you save anywhere?

On the 360 version, I'm stuck at this tough FUCKING spot, and everytime I die, I have to start all over again.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCK!

Really?
I thought it was a very simple game, and actually finished it in a few hours (first time ever I have finished a game in one day)!

No idea about the PC version, but I assume its pretty much the same save points as all other versions.

Where exactly are you stuck anyway?

I think it's the fourth level...you have to raid a TV station with your crew. I'm playing on the 3rd out of 4 difficulty...fucking terrorists everywhere!

It's a wild firefight, and I keep getting pinned down. I never got into a COD game before, and it took me a while to figure out that unless I moved further into the stage, the enemies respawn, and I'll be stuck there forever...

Ah, never had that problem as I always tend to push ahead as soon as I kill someone, almost suicidal to a degree!

I actually thought that the tv level was quite easy.

I might play through it again on the most difficult level, but just enjoying the online too much right now!

Yeah, I just got through it.

You really have to run through that game before the grunts respawn...

As you go through the game you find laptops, which make cheats available to you the more you collect.
So far I have unlocked about 5.
All they do is change the screen colour to stuff like negative or black & white.
There is one though that had me in stiches.
Its called Ragtime!
Basically it changes the screen to an old time Chaplin-esque movie effect (kinda sepia with all the crackles and spots of an old silent movie), and the old school silent movie music.

Which gunship level are you talking about?
The one where you man the machine gun or the one where you can shell people with a thermal imaging camera?
The thermal imaging one is great!

There is a level later in the game set in the past where you play the part as Price, and you have to carry an injured officer to safety!
Thats a toughie as you have to make sure you not only dodge the bullets yourself, but you have to protect the officer as well (although he isnt totally defensless).

Ohhhh, I've collected about 3 laptops. I was wondering what those were about. That sounds funny!

Yeah, the thermal imaging gunship level is the one I am talking about. That was great!

The Price mission was cool, especially when you get to snipe the main antagonist from really far off. I would also place my injured partner in the middle of the gun fights.

Oh, and why was you always hiding in the same corner?

Ohhhhhhhh, I've unlocked some stuff but have yet to customize. I am going to do that today. I hated when people used Martyrdom because I could rarely get out of range quick enough. I unlocked that last night, I'm going to put that on for sure!

There was one match I had last night where there were three of the other team running through the same doorway.
I got em all just by unloading a clip into them!

Easiest triple kill ever!
