Were leaving together,
But still its farewell
And maybe well come back,
To earth, who can tell?
I guess there is no one to blame
Were leaving ground
Will things ever be the same again?

Its the final countdown...

Were heading for Venus and still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all
With so many light years to go and things to be found
I'm sure that well all miss her so.

It seems that when a comic book writer goes Hollywood, his comic book stuff starts to teh suck.

Yeah, that's true. I guess I just don't consider stuff like He-Man and BTAS to be "Hollywood." Not like Lost, anyway.

It might be more about him being spread too thin. Right now he's got at least three comic books and Lost going (the last being on temporary hiatus). It's a lot for anyone to write.

I'd say Countdown's probably been a bigger burden than anyone realized. I know a lot of stuff collapsed under 52 (Morrison's Wildcats and Authority relaunches being the most prominent). so that and the strike have probably impacted the work.

Yeah, you're probably right about that too. Countdown is bigger than a lot of people think, and churning out a title with multiple storylines, a large cast, and a weekly turnout can't be easy.

Actually, with the strike going on, he can't be writing for TV. That leave him more time to write comics. So, if anything, he current comics output should, at least in theory, be better than ever.

How far in advance is Dini writing this stuff? It's possible we won't see the fruits of his renewed focus for months, right?

And I think a writer can be burned out by writing too many comic books and nothing else. Look at Loeb and Waid. In my opinion, they are two fine examples of writers who put out good comic book material before they were given more titles to work on.

i've heard many times that a book without any problems is written about 8 months before it's in stores.

Good point. What I meant by "current output" was that the stuff he is writing now while on strike. It's my hope that he will use the "free time" afforded by the strike to get his writing back up to snuff so that the books that come out in the future are back to his usual level of quality.

Ah, is that right? I checked out Authority. It was boring.
