Because the three guys I meet up with every year are my very best friends. I go back almost two decades with them, and we all live in separate parts of the country now. Dragon*Con is our platform for getting together for a drunken debauchery of a weekend. Thus, if I only have so many days with these guys, I'm not going to waste time trying to get to know/meet people I post online with, just because they happen to be there. I would expect the exact same from others, because it makes sense...
