I think some people are overwrought over Townshend. However, I think many of them who participate in this Forum will be hard pressed to boycott the NFL, CBS or the Super Bowl even though they claim moral outrage at Townshend's appearance and performance at halftime.

People should go after child abuse where it really exists, not where they think it is. If someone obtains evidence that Townshend diddled little kids, let's talk about that then.

He's been investigated. The authorities made their determination. Townshend will live with the stigma for the rest of his life.

Out of curiosity... who are those posters? You asked rex, he didn't give a shit about the network or the event. You asked bsams, he said he was gonna boycott it. It's like you decided to use that argument before you even knew if it applied to anyone here.

Here's the thing with me Jim. I'm allowed to have whatever moral compass I want. The man admitted to buying child porn. He had lots of child porn on his computer. If it was the US he would have been convicted. Because he lives somewhere where the laws are different than here is not an issue. When you purchase child porn you are financing the people that "diddle" little kids.

I wont watch the Superbowl, I love the NFL, I always watch. When I dont I'm sure my kids will ask why. They will know that no matter how rich or famous you are, that its not ok to be a shitbag. They will know that as much as I love the NFL I wont participate in the forgiveness of this shithead. As big of a fan of the Who as you are it would be nice if you could set the same example for your kids, but thats your choice.

What I particularly appreciate is your willingness to put your money where your mouth is--you say you're going to boycott the Super Bowl because of Townshend. (I do have to ask, if memory serves, you're a Bengals fan--would you boycott the Super Bowl if your team were actually playing in it?).




When you mention about you having the right to your moral compass, I'd like to think you give me the same latitude to have mine. It's patently unfair of you to lecture me about my kids given that you don't know what I do or don't tell my children in my parenting of them.

The fact is, I have discussed this with my children. My 20 year old, who is a Who fan, and I have talked about this. We both express that Townshend exercised horrible judgment in what he did and we both feel that his behavior will be a part of the life of Pete Townwshend. But given our knowledge of Townshend the person, we do not feel he's a pedophile. We do not believe that he preys on children.

What I woudl secondarily appreciate is if those of you who disdain Townshend would stop extending this disdain to me. Because I like the man's music does not make me a bad guy.

Never heard of her. I remember an 80s star named Taija Rae. I saw her in two movies as a brunette. I looked her up on Wikipedia to see what ever happened to her. It said she dyed her hair blonde and became a superstar after that.

And then she just left the porn movie scene, and the last anyone knew of her, she was working as a hostess in a restaurant in Butte, Montana or someplace. I guess she never fully hit her stride.


I saw Taija Rae in one of the mid-80s Taboo movie series, and saw Aunt Peg in the second episode (I saw the first two). The lady's not my style at all (short hair, kind of ice-queenish, bossy and unfeminine, IMHO), but I still enjoyed the movie as a whole.

I'm not a big follower of porn movies with a plot. They tend to distract from the reason you're watching porn in the first place. Some of these guys, like the ones who do the Vivid Video movies, seem to think they're producing real Hollywood dramas, and completely lose sight of what they're supposed to be doing.

It's like meeting a stripper who tells you she's an "artist" or a "dancer". No, you're a naked girl shaking her flesh and taking off your clothes for money. Girls who think they're an "artist" generally aren't your best strippers.
