I think it shows that Letterman is smart. It was a funny spot, and I guarantee folks are going to be talking about it tomorrow. Hell, we're talking about it now. He knew that Leno and even NBC would jump at this to try and get back some of the nice guy image Leno used to have with fans and patch up the cluster fuck.
