either way the episode was brilliant. They got the message across having Buddha do coke and Jesus looking up porn.
I think it's unfortunate that people are focusing on the bleeps and the censor bar when it was still a genius episode. Tying in 12 years of stories into this bizarre cohesive "event" was a lot of fun. The Scott tennerman story was the turning point for South Park, when it got into the dark but utterly hillarious territory that's made it a must watch show now is even darker, even funnier, because Cartman killed his own father (and stepmother) and fed them to his brother but he cries about being part ginger.
The Killing Joke lair, Tom Cruise with Willzyx on the moon, Mitch Connors in Vietnam....I really think these two are in the top 5 best episodes, censorship or not.

As noted in my earlier post "On Thursday morning, a spokesman for Comedy Central confirmed that the network had added more bleeps to the episode than were in the cut delivered by South Park Studios, and that it was not giving permission for the episode to run on the studio’s Web site."
In any event, I wouldn't know if it was brilliant or not, Ray. Because it was taken off the air by Comedy Central after one (censored) showing (instead of being rerun at midnight like the other eps) and not put on their website, I never got to see it.

I got it from bittorrent and this is the first I'm reading anything about it. So I took it all as a joke on their part and am really letdown that Comedy Central did this.

We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn’t some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. We’ll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we’ll see what happens to it."
 Just fucked up. Though the point was made by having Jesus and Buddha completely untouched. It sends the wrong message to give in to pressure. Eventually some catholic is going to realize that few death threats will work. It sets a bad precedence (I probably spelled that wrong), like George W. Bush and his "free speech zones."

Hayes didn't quit the show, really. He was very ill and on his deathbed when the letter chastising Parker and Stone was sent out, which has led many to believe that Hayes didn't actually write it.

Its not my fault you cannot differenciate between Hayes and Chef. it was unclear because the natural conclusion one would draw is not that they killed the man himself. to make the joke work you could've added a word or two to sell the premise that they murdered him. english is really not that hard a language to grasp once you stop throwing in a bunch of pointless U's and switching up the E's and R's.

As a snarky response to Muslim bloggers who "warned" Comedy Central about an episode of South Park showing the Prophet Mohammed wearing a bear suit, one Seattle cartoonist, who calls laughter her form of "prayer," is asking artists all over the world to create depictions of Mohammed on May 20, then submit the images to a Facebook page she set up.
Speaking on a Seattle radio show on Friday, cartoonist Molly Norris said she announced her idea as a way of countering the fear exhibited by Comedy Central in censoring episode 201 of South Park.
