that's what i mean. every sandler movie (since ... geez, probably big daddy) starts with a funny premise and silly-music commercials, and then before you know it, you're in a serious movie about someone dying from cancer
Sandler desperately wants to be the next Tom Hanks or Robin Williams and go from comedic to respected serious actor (though, in Williams' case, he's pretty much undone success that and gone back to [shitty] comedy). Unfortunately for him, I think he's got a lot more in common with guys like Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers who tried to make the switch and failed.
