Well, it was supposed to have been released early October, which means we'll have to wait for the DVD.

I saw it Saturday night.

It was fucking great. It is really fun to watch.

They really went all out too. Some of the sets are disgustingly beautiful.

Looks like Jake might be looking for a Donnie Darko sequel for himself or maybe even Bubble Boy 2 after this.

That does look good.
Only Losers I was aware or was the WWII team, so I assume this is some new comic version.

Yeah. There was a Vertigo series a few years ago. I think it was about a new group of Losers in the present day working as a black ops group or something.

I like the part where they offer more information on Hulu's international avaliability. That is nice of them.

Kevin James must be thanking his lucky stars that Farley wasn't alive available for this particular SNL reunion movie.

it's a trick.

it has a funny premise and will have funny moments, but the inevitable "aw fuck, it's a real movie" sad music will kick in within 20 minutes.

that's the happy madison way!

I've enjoyed a lot of his movies. I'll see how many people bitch about it here and other places before I decide to see it.

that's what i mean. every sandler movie (since ... geez, probably big daddy) starts with a funny premise and silly-music commercials, and then before you know it, you're in a serious movie about someone dying from cancer

Yeah, but I think Click was on a whole different level. It had him pausing jiggly boobs in the trailer and it ended up being about him having cancer, losing his wife and all sorts of fucked up shit. The other "non-funny" ones at least warned us.

Click was a great film until the end, then it became a preachy downer of a film.
The switch was too big.

Sandler desperately wants to be the next Tom Hanks or Robin Williams and go from comedic to respected serious actor (though, in Williams' case, he's pretty much undone success that and gone back to [shitty] comedy). Unfortunately for him, I think he's got a lot more in common with guys like Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers who tried to make the switch and failed.

hm, i can mostly agree -- there's definitely a hint of jim carey in terms of trying to switch to non-comedies, though i don't think sandler's movies have ever gone that far. mostly, they're comedies that just go really, really wrong. moreso like "shallow hal"s reveal (spoilers! it's not a comedy anymore!)

i also think robin williams' roles in dead poet's society, one hour photo, insomnia, and good will hunting, amongst others, prove he's a great acting talent beyond comedies. likely one of the few to make it out of the typecast.

I agree. My point was that, lately, he's been backsliding into comedies...and not particularly good ones ("Old Dogs," "R.V." and "License to Wed", for example). I'd rather see him do nothing but drama if he's going to just make shitty Disney-style family crap otherwise.

true. not only did those all look poor, they all looked templated. like a third-rate remake of some random summer sleeper hit 5 years earlier.
