That's exactly why he's my least favorite. I like Bond to be played in a more serious tone. That's why Im partial to Timothy Dalton who took it from Moore and made Bond less campy. That...and he was the first one I saw when I was a kid.


I'm not telling you which Bond to like, but just realize that Moore didn't make Bond campy. The producers did. You see it creeping in during Connery's run. Moore just ran with it. I love his wink and nod style he gave Bond letting the audience know that he was in on the joke. The producers started to get more gritty and violent as the 80's went on which can be seen in Moore's final film A View to a Kill. That made Dalton, who's a fantastic actor, a perfect choice to replace Moore for the new direction. Just a Brosnan was replaced by Craig for the new direction of Bond, which has oddly come back around to the Connery era. The realism of Casino Royale has slowly been peeled away for more and more over the top stunts and gadgets that the franchise is well known for.
