I only recently read about the IMDBs shutting down their boards, with the management blaming it on people moving on to social media for their movie discussions, which is a crock of shit.

No social network is as conducive to archived discussions as a messageboard. The fuck are you going to say with twitter's restrictive wordcount? (that's not even counting the fact that Twitter itself is closing their services one after the other, due to poor management and the need to pacify investors.) Facebook doesn't seem to have any system for archives (old posts still exist, but you have to manually scroll a person's wall - so good luck unearting years-old discussion threads.)The closest is Reddit, but that they automatically lock old threads, so no discussions on old movies as well. Social networks are for people who have the attention span of a gnat and the memory of a goldfish.
