I agree. Personally I'd rather those events stand on their own. It's already gotta be confusing enough as it is.
While the XPW has been fun, I think we are running the risk of overdoing the "invasion" stuff. And yeah, they are probably not the highest profile group to start with. I know enough about them to play off of the angle, but I don't have a lot of indepth knowledge.

Apropos of that,either Monday or Tuesday I'll post a summary in this thread outlining the history of the real XPW so that you can get a better handle on my new angle. I'd just like to point everyone to the post I've made in the RDLL thread, as I anticipate a lot of tag matches taking place (tag team matches are one of the most common type of Lucha Libre matches), and Lucha rules are fairly different.

OK,here as promised is my (somewhat) brief profile of the real XPW: Xtreme Pro Wrestling was the brainchild of Rob Zicari,a.k.a. Rob Black,an adult video producer who wanted to cash in on the popularity of the hardcore wrestling revolution of the late '90s;he and his wife,Lizzie Borden,started putting on live cards in the Los Angeles area in late 1999,and a weekly TV show on satellite soon followed.They were trying to sell their promotion as a West Coast cousin of ECW,but they weren't anywhere near ECW's level,as this Scott Keith review of XPW's first home video attests: Scott Keith's "XPW Extreme Conception" Rant Anyhow,to make a long and incredibly gruesome story short,Black's emphasis on sleazy angles at the expense of the matches--not to mention his glaring inability to produce anything vaguely resembling a decently TV show or pay-per-view--practically guaranteed a short life for his federation.Any shot he might have had at staking out a legitimate presence on the East Coast went straight to hell when the Feds busted him and Lizzie on pornography charges(and it probably didn't help matters much that XPW's last-ever live card ended with yahoos chanting "I smell bacon!" after Supreme got set on fire during a table match). Stepping briefly out of character....I was going to PM you or one of the other mods at this forum on with some ideas for an RDCW vs. XPW pay-per-view show,but I held back because (A)I was waiting to see how the voting turned out for Trippin' Tuesday;(B)I didn't want to mess up the schedules for One Night Stand and the Rob's Damn Lucha Libre show;and (C)I wasn't sure if anybody else would be interested.
Anyhow,I'll be in touch soon with some suggestions for an RDCW vs. XPW event.
