My top five Star Trek : The Next Generation episodes, in no particular order :

The Offspring

The Inner Light

Q Who?

To Thine's Self

Relics

Let's make it a top ten :

Sins Of The Father

The Emissary

Who Watches The Watchers?

Booby Trap

Starship Mine

I guess I tend to go for the ones where either the crew or a crew member has a big problem and has to solve it, and there is a deadline, or where it is a very moving episode. The action - oriented episodes are cool too!

The ones I highlighted are FANTASTIC! ( Yeah, I highlighted 'em all! )Paul Winfield played the alien guy in DARMOK, he was also in Star Trek II : The Wrath Of Khan. He died in that movie, but at least when the character he portrayed died in Darmok, it was to establish communications with Picard and the Federation.... not a bad cause.

Deja Q : "For what's it's worth, you're a better human than I"

Q said that to Data after Data saved Q after having been stripped of his God - like powers... wow....

The Most Toys was just on a day or so ago.

Did Data fire the Phaser on purpose? Or was it REALLY a transporter glitch?

I like it when I am asked to draw my own conclusions.

The Inner Light, we discussed.

Relics, I reviewed here a page or three ago... Scotty was one of the three members ( 4 if you count Mark Leonard, who played Sarek in TOS and Next Gen. ) to guest star in Next Gen, Dr McCoy was in Farpoint, may he rest in peace, and Spock in the two parter Unification.

James Doohan did a fine job of reprising his role as Scotty. I loved the way he and Geordi interacted! And the way they solved the problem.

I, Borg was just on yesterday..another fav.

" But Geordi would rather DIE than be assimulated."

" Then Geordi will die."

" But he is my friend."

Awesome dialogue between Picard ( Locutis ) and Hugh Borg.

I agree...so, Data has no emotions, eh? He was pushed beyond the point where humans would crack with humiliations..his uniform and communicator, destroyed..
He was kept captive...supposed to amuse guests... forced to sit in a chair as though he were a people sized trophy....and watched the only person on Fatjo's ship who treated him with kindness killed before his eyes...

He fired.

Thus, he came one step closer to humanity.

He felt a need to kill a man who clearly demonstrated a lack of humanity on many occasions...whereas, by contrast, Data, an android, has shown a strong sense of kindness, decency, and...humanity..more so than many humanoid life forms he has encountered in his travels.

It is cool so far..Arrested Development wil be on weekdays at 11:30 pm..it ought to have no effect on Star Trek : TNG.

Relics was on today...one of my favs!!!!

It was terrific seeing Scotty again...He played a good part, the dialogue, special effects and story were spot on.

" Enjoy your time as chief engineer aboard a starship, Geordi...because when it's over, it's over."

" I want the Enterprise! Not the bloody A, B, C, or D...Just the Enterprise!"

Remember Me was just on..LOVE that one!

I NEVER saw the end coming the first time I saw it.

And THAT gave away nothing. It is fun to watch, whether you've seen it once or twenty times..Dr Crusher has a BIG problem...and she must solve it!

Felis Cattus, is your taxonomic nomenclature,
an endothermic quadruped carnivorous by nature?
Your visual, olfactory and auditory senses
contribute to your hunting skills, and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
a singular development of cat communications
that obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
for a rhythmic stroking of your fur, to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
you would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aide in locomotion,
it often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behaviour you display
connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

Top 10, eh? That's a hard one, Jerry. Ten out of seven years? Yikes. Let's see...

  • Tapestry Q ("Blasphemy! I should cast you out, or smite you, or something...")

  • The Best of Both Worlds ("Take your best shot, Locutus, 'cause we are about to intervene...")

  • Brothers ("Why does a boxer, box? Why does a painter, paint?")

  • The Most Toys ("...bubble...gum...")

  • Yesterday's Enterprise ("Let's make sure history never forgets....the name....Enterprise...")

  • Starship Mine ("I'm the barber, Mr. Mott...")

  • Lower Decks ("Riker? I bet he sleeps in his uniform...")

  • The Measure of a Man ("What is he? I don't know....do you?")

  • The Offspring ("Commander...what are your intentions towards my daughter?")

  • All Good Things... ("...I should have done this a long time ago...")

Those are some FINE choices, Pro! I forgot Tapestry in my top ten....love that one!

I could have easily made it a top 20! Or 30!!!

Others I like :

Tapestry ( " Hello, Jean - Luc. You're dead..welcome to the afterlife. " )

Samaritan Snare ( " We look for things that make us go.")

The Naked Now ( I LOVE watching Data put those chips back into their slots at super speed! ) (" This will take slightly more time than we have left!" )

The Enemy ( " The first Federation - Romulan Co - Venture!"

The Pegasus ( " I was stupid..I should have shot you instead of defending you." )

The Next Phase ( " Where is the other one like you...the scientific officer?")

Time's Arrow one and two ( " I know now that I can die..this brings me one step closer to being human." )

Today on Spike Tv :

A Fistful of Datas - A fun episode! I STILL don't like westerns...UNLESS they have a science fiction motiff, and this one works for me! Worf played the role of straight man quite well, as usual...

Quality of Life - I remember the TV guide ad for this episode from 1992 : " Will Data sacrifice Captain Picard and Geordi for the life of a machine?" I didn't used to care at all for this one, but it kinda grows on you, although I am curious...why did Data not understand that it is the struggle to grow and improve that is most important when Dr Crusher told him this, yet he gave the same speech to LAL in " The Offspring " just two years earlier?

( See my signature for that line. It is an excellent thought, and one of the best pearls of wisdom to come from Next Gen. )

Ship in a Bottle - has not been on yet, will be on at 5 pm, est..... this is "Elementary, Dear Data ", part two, and it is a cute episode. It is also most likely the inspriration for the holographic Doctor on Star Trek : Voyager.

And Keh'Lar was no doubt the character that inspired the half Klingon - half human character of Belanna Torres.

I did not watch " THE VENGEANCE FACTOR ". It is one of the very few Next Gen episodes that I do not care for.

"Chain of Command Part 2" is on right now, it features great performances by Patrick Stewart and David Warner. David Warner is also a great voice actor who just about everyone here would recognize as the voice of Ra's Al Ghul on Batman: TAS.

Here are some of my LEAST favorite Next Gen episodes:

Home Soil

The Outrageous Okona

Suddenly Human

Masks

These are the only ones I did not tape.

He's also done voice work for numerous animated series, including Batman the Animated Series, Freakazoid, and Disney's Gargoyles. And he reprised his role as Sark for the video game Kingdom Hearts II.

Birthright, a two parter was on Spike Tv today. It was cool seeing Dr. Bashir from DS 9 on the show, and the station, too.

Worf is told by this alien dude who is played by the same guy who played Zeprham Cochran in First Contact that his father is still alive..and what he finds instead almost gets him killed!

After that was Lessons, in which Captain Picard falls in love with a woman officer from Astro physics.. and how things work out.
