You, sir, are not very bright--Or learned.

If you've actually been keeping an eye on the TGS footage from Gamespot, you'd know that the bulk of those shots are real-time.

Here's the preview for White Knight.

I could be wrong and that picture actually is real considering the graphics in the trailer.

Looks like a generic, albeit polished, Final Fantasy special to me. In which case, I'm not interested. But, to its credit, if that shot's not real, the graphics are damn near close.

Are you sure that Devil May Cry is a gameplay shot? If so, that's very impressive.

On second glance, I believe that one was touched up a bit. But I remember that specific still from a gameplay demonstration where they panned the camera around his body and it looked very similar if not totally identical to that pic.

Well, it's coming out with the PS3, so, I thought maybe they would have a screenshot or something...

theyre all real-time engine shots folks. when I downloaded them they were at like 1500 to 2000px resolution. at that rez i could see the tesselation edges (jaggies) around the models. the tesselation is still visible at ps3/360 tech. you wouldnt see them in a prerendered movie/cutscene.

s'more goodies

Metal Gear Solid 4

Gran Turismo HD

Another Armored Core

Armored Core 4 has some really nice particle effects. Camera blurring, fire, smoke, water. Effects that give it that extra push that can really fool the eye.

i don't think any of the ps3 shots are shown actually running on a ps3, though. its all comparative computer emulators. as far as i've read, most companies haven't even gotten final dev kits yet.

the finals should look pretty damn close, though. the tech is just that friggin good.

however, any screen shots that came out for e3, and i'd assume most all of them since, are going to be the super polished "airbrushed" type shots.

sadly, not that close.

xbox 1 had some nice high def effects visible to hidef tvs but not all that missed by regular tvs. however, the ps3 is so far advanced beyond that that the differences will be so much more noticeable between the haves and have nots.

the framerates will be great, the processing abilities will be great (meaning tons of characters on screen with no slow down), but the depth and detail of graphics will simply not be visible. its just not possible.

it'll look like the above if it was photocopied or if you spilled a little water on the image, or something. blurrier, flatter, and interlaced - meaning microscopic black lines scrolled across the images, which dulls all the detail

To my knowledge, all of those shots are off Dev Kits.

more than likely, thats true.

sony has really delayed in dev kit distribution, particularly the final model (which would be closest to using a real ps3), and that has upset a lot of developers.

sub final dev kits, which are essentially exposed PC hybrids -- often with "guesstimated" hardware based on how the studio believes the ps3 will be.

thus, all ps3 renders released since its unveiling are, literally, studio made -- which also allows for studio polish.

Well Gran Turismo & the Formula 1 game are both in house products (not sure about the others), so they would be the games most likely to have access to the proper hardware!

Not as impressive. Also, kinda big and I don't feel like 'Shopping it to make it fit.

Actually, it's from a cinematic, not even gameplay.

I mean, I have plenty of trust in NAMCO but... yikes, that's not exactly knocking my pants off there.
