Since when do you care about proof? So far everythng you've said (as far as MLK Jr is concerned) is unsubstantiated.

What I've said? I've pointed out the facts.

MLK led a group of fanatics in a protest that he let transform into a riot.

That's fact.

The only fact is that there was a riot. So far there's nothing that says he incited it.

Giving his approval for the march when he knew these people were unhinged is a clear incite.

That's extremely stupid even for you. That's like blaming the Pope for priests molesting kids.

The two situations are nothing alike.

King was an accessory. Plain and simple.

Have you ever read about mob psychology or mass hysteria. All it takes is a few folks to get EVERYONE riled up.

The Pope didn't endorse any child molesters; the Vatican pulled every accused priest from their respective Parish. No one was even able to prove that even a quarter of the priests were molesters in the first place. King, on the other Hand, was proven to be in the middle of supporting a group that started rioting in the streets of Memphis.

Got this from a friend at another board who's alot smarter then Pariah (not that-that means much) who was actually around for the sixties.

MLK did not incite people to violence on March 28, 1968.

March 28, 1968, Memphis, Tenn.- A garbage workers' march (postponed from March 22 due to weather) becomes disorderly. Provocateurs (some white, some from out of state) break windows and King leaves the march. Police retaliate, one youth killed. King is invited to Memphis again to try to get things back under control. King believes the disinformation to the effect that the trigger had been the black gang "The Invaders."

April 3, Memphis, Tenn.-City authorities obtain court order to ban outside participation. King answers that he will participate anyway.

April 4, 1968, Memphis, Tenn. 6:01 PM-King is assassinated on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel, apparently by Raul ___ in the employ of mafia bosses in New Orleans and Memphis. Raul had been the handler of James Earl Ray since August. At the same time King and Andrew Young were in the sights of Alpha 184 sharpshooters. Several riots break out in other cities, but calm is maintained in Atlanta where King lies in state at Ebenezer Baptist Church.

April 8, 1968, Memphis, Tenn.-Coretta King leads a march of 42,000 to city hall in her husband's place.

April 9, 1968, Atlanta-King is buried at South View Cemetery. An estimated crowd of 50,000 to 100,000 lines the mule-drawn cortege route. Mrs. King requests that King's last sermon be played to the crowd. "Say that I was a drum major...say that I was a drum major for peace...for righteousness."

Yeah, there's nothing there that wasn't in Whomod's link. It still refuses to address the fact that King was standing with people who had the impetus to riot--Even if there was indeed foul play involved (something still yet to be proven).

actually the Rolling Stones do bear some responsibility for riling up the crowd. Things were already tense and they decided to do the dramatic late entrance, which only made things worse.

Playing 'Sympathy For the Devil' certainly didn't help.

I remember when Altamont happened.

My mom said, " See? All they do at those rock and roll concerts is kill people."

My response: " You voted for Nixon. He'll kill a LOT more people by sending them off to Vietnam."

I think that was a pretty sharp response for a 12 yr old.

Just please keep this in mind Halo: Whenever you see me walking down the street with a huge crowd of angry people behind about to march on city hall under the pretext of "protesting," know that I will definitely be trying to incite a riot because there's no way I'd ally myself with such unstable and unbalanced people without knowing that they're willing to get violent and rowdy.

Either MLK knew they were gonna go apeshit and he just let it happen or he was worried they would and he took the risk. Either way, he's an accessory. The most you can make an effort to prove in favor of King is recklessness--And even that is grounds for indictment.



I'm not using Malcolm X against MLK. I'm saying that he should be the one who gets his own day--If anybody (I don't really want that many federal holidays to begin with). Rather than MLK, it should be Malcolm who gets the recognition since he didn't bullshit people. But instead, kids are being brainwashed in elementary school using selective history about MLK to say that he did more for racial equality than anyone else.
