He pushed corn ethanol (which is horrible) as well as devote money to Cellulosic ethanol research (which would be a far better alternative). Also, America gets most of its oil from Canada, Mexico, and South America, not the Middle East. The Middle East is important because their production volume are tied to per barrel costs on commodities trading of crude oil. Please learn to actually use facts.
