  • Liberation Entertainment continue to bolster its increasingly attractive portfolio of titles with the announcement today of a deal with First Serve Toonz for the acquisition of the DVD and VOD rights to a 26 part animated series based on the iconic Marvel characters Wolverine and the X-Men.

Liberation’s multi-tiered deal for one of Marvel’s most popular characters includes confirmation that the BBC has acquired the television rights for the UK.

Jay Boberg, CEO of Liberation Entertainment, said “we are very glad to be involved in this first class original series, and to be working in partnership with Marvel and First Serve Toonz.”

Spencer Pollard, MD of Liberation Entertainment said “Wolverine and the X-Men is a huge franchise and with the Wolverine movie planned for 2008, this should secure huge interest for our DVD releases. With the strong interest in the show from the leading broadcasters around the world, we can ensure that our TV sales team can work strategically with our UK and International DVD sales teams to maximise the returns for everyone

“Liberation is a young and aggressive company and we think they are the perfect team to sell Wolverine and X-Men around the world”, said Ed Borgerding, principal of First Serve Toonz. “The show is a perfect combination of great storytelling, action and fantastic characters. It looks to be a show that will run and run.”
That name makes me want to vomit. I'll pass.
Yeah! Let's get a good name, like Batman and the Outsiders, or Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, or Superboy and the Ravers!

Okay, yeah, that last one's a bad example....
wolverine = popular.

its not a terrible decision.
Wolverine didn't used to be overrated until he became over-exposed.

Sorry. I don't speak corporate.

A wonder they didn't tout how they provide animation "solutions" for all your superherioc needs.
The 1993 X Men cartoon was watchable; X Men: Evolution was pretty good.

I will check out this new X Men show when it is on.

What if it's good?
I'd say there's a better chance of me getting laid then this being good.
Looks a bit like X-Men evolution. I liked the 90's Fox cartoon best, but I'll check it out!

damn. this things gonna suck...
I quite liked the recent FF cartoon - are these the same guys?
No this is an entirely different super hero group.

They were born with a mutant gene that gives them special powers.

Some are born looking fucked up, with like blue skin or wings, so normal people hate and fear them.
Thanks, funny guy!

I thought this would be crap, but the trailer looks pretty good! Story-wise it's much, much closer to the original cartoon than it is to X-Men Evolution, with a bit of the movie universe thrown in.
STOP THROWING THE UNIVERSE IN THE HOUSE!
but its cold outside

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN Arrives On NickToons Tonight
  • … it's good to see a cartoon that remembers what cartoons are supposed to do. Zap, slime and blow things up. It's almost heartwarming to see feature characters who speak in short declarative sentences that you can usually predict two beats beforehand, and who generally save the world. Unlike most cartoons on today, "Wolverine and the X-Men" does not involve children, which means that the annoying smart-mouth answers are kept to a bare minimum. Likewise, there are no talking animals (well, unless you count the more fauna-esque mutants), very little sarcasm and virtually no highfalutin dissection of pop culture. The term "crabby patty" is never uttered.

… Comics fans will appreciate the serious tone, and kids will enjoy the plentiful action; still, the program pales next to the Saturday-morning version that Fox carried in the early 1990s, with uneven animation and a messy narrative that could use a bit of Wolverine-style slicing and dicing. …

I've read good things about it already, if it's on demand I'll check it out.

If this is good, I bet all those bitches who slagged it off before they had even seen it, rather than take the mature Jaburg approach, will deny they ever said anything bad about it!
This show has been out for a while in several countries. I missed the first few episodes when they aired here months ago, so I downloaded a bunch. Watched the first two and didn't bother with the rest. It's not bad, but, eh, you know.

I caught the first episode and liked it. The animation and voice acting are both top notch. Among the voice talents are Phil Morris, Michael Ironside, and Steven Blum.
