Started out as a direct prequel. Subsequently, it became more about creating the universe that the original takes place in rather than being about specifics from it. Save, at least, for the origin of the Xenomorph(s).

Still, Ridley has been very coy about how much it ties in so who knows.

I'm guessing the film does have the Aliens but they are going to great lengths to avoid making that obvious. Probably because Scott doesn't want the stench of the non-Cameron sequels on it.

The original creative team (Scott, O'Bannon, etc.) have long dropped hints that the aliens are genetically engineered weapons and that the ship with the egg chamber in the first one was a crashed deployment ship. Might have a lot to do with that race and, from the viral marketing, the androids from the franchise.

So the aliens in Aliens weren't really aliens, just a case of past human genetic engineering gone wrong...

This is getting shit reviews apparently but I really liked it. I guess the main actress will get a lot of hate, but I have a medical condition where acting rarely annoys me. I usually just think "well, that's just how the character talks." I never got all the Kate-hate in Lost.

My problem with Kate in LOST was she just came off as boring to me.

Physically she is beautiful yet she has no sex appeal either.

Saw Prometheus yesterday. I liked it...a lot. The movie's pacing was pretty slow until near the end,and there were a couple parts I didn't understand but I didn't care. I enjoyed the whole thing and the ending was just....freakin' awesome!!!! You know that there's going to be another movie and if Ridley Scott stays on....cool. The worst thing is, I'm gonna have to wait for a sequel.

Just saw Prometheus. It made no sense and just repeated itself over and over while calling the audience racists.

It was good, though. Part Alien. Part 2001. Even a bit of Discovery Health thrown in for good measure. A good deal of nods to the Alien movies without requiring the audience to see it to keep up with the story. The story just makes MORE sense with it.
