First seven minutes:

Premieres on March 1st.

Series is probably going to end with him dying and the son and wife surviving.

I like Isaacs though. He could make up for a shitty, predictable story.

Its up early on hulu.

I'd embed in this post but pro had to have a hissy fit and ruin the fun for the rest of us.

Careful about criticizing Pro. He might do a google search and spend five minutes looking for a random image to get back at you. Pretty scary shit.

Eh, I'm pretty much done with serials like this. I like the concept and I could see it as a mini-series or something. But, as a full series, I'm too concerned it will crack under the weight of its own narrative. I don't want to invest for what will, undoubtedly, be a shitty conclusion.

Well, I gotta admit, it's pretty decent. Due in no small part to Isaacs of course.

But Isaacs or no, a series can't possibly be supported soley on the intrique of living a dual life through falling asleep and waking up in a "sliding door" universe. Playing dream detective is only so entertaining before you get tired of all the mystery and want to know what the fuck is going on.

If they want this to work, they're gonna have to have relatively consistent updates on exactly [what happened/what's happening] all the while he uses his unique perspective to crack cases. I imagine that's what this 'blood alcohol' thing is about, so it looks like the task is in hand.

Unlike with Quantum Leap, it looks like God would be a good explanation here.

I'm dreading this ending up that he's in purgatory.

I think in some ways both realities are some sort of fantasy. Him always finding the right clues made me think that he might be in a coma and dreaming about saving lives and finding missing kids. His wife asking about their son at the end of the episode is leading to something huge, I just don't know what it is yet.

I'm definitely hooked. This show has been getting hyped to death by other TV writers and they've said that the shows quality keeps up for the first 13 episodes.

I'm the G-man and I approve this message.

The first episode will be on NBC tonight.

I watched it through Hulu. It was good, but I can't see making a long lasting series out of it. A movie or even a miniseries, yes. Don't know how they're going to keep the whole thing going. The problem with high concept shows like this is that it won't be too long before the audience or even the writers themselves want to dig deeper into the 'uniqueness' of the show and start destroying it.

Cool idea for a show.

I don't know if the twist on tonight's episode was good or bad.
Posted By: rex Re: Awake - 2012-03-11 1:56 AM
The twist does make it more believable for those of you who were worried about it.

Warning, Spoiler:
Both his wife and kid are dead and his boss is manipulating him in some way.

Uh......Hmm.....I'm not sure I understood what happened.

Warning, Spoiler:
She said "whole" family. But that could mean that he made the attempt to kill the whole family without actually succeeding.

I have a feeling that either one or both of those psychiatrists are plants. Most likely, in my mind, the really annoying hag, but it could just as easily be reasoned that it's Lee. In which case, I have a feeling that he'll cross paths with one or the other in one of the realities and find out his or her profession isn't actually psychiatry.

Interview with Jason Isaacs about tonight's episode and the show in general. There are some spoilery things about it but it does clarify how he changes "realities".

Crap. Now we know who the bad guy's gonna be.

Another good episode. The ex-partner being the bad guy was way too obvious though.

Don't expect to see anything concerning the conspiracy for a few more weeks, the second episode they aired was originally going to be the seventh. That kind of sucks but I think more people got into it knowing the show is more believable than everyone thought it was.

A helpful timeline.

Despite sharing a name with the worst state in America, this was the best episode since the pilot.

The show finally has a bad guy, other than the conspiracy people.

It says video no longer available. How long ago was it working?

What the hell are you talking about?
Posted By: Pariah Re: Awake - 2012-03-30 8:26 AM
Hulu
Posted By: rex Re: Awake - 2012-04-13 8:36 AM
I'm quickly losing interest in this show. I'm bored with the crime of the week shit. They need to bring back the serial killer and start showing more of the bigger picture.
Posted By: Pariah Re: Awake - 2012-04-14 7:48 AM
Well, it was only a matter of time before they turned the show into a platform for "social injustice" and the evils of overweight, white construction workers.

I'm gonna call that strike one. Odds are it's only gonna get worse as it gets more popular.

Awake...

cancelled.
Posted By: Pariah Re: Awake - 2012-05-12 4:09 AM
I don't know about everyone else, but that girlfriend was strike 2 and 3 for me.

Critics say it was weak because it was too procedural, which is....true enough I suppose.

But the kill factor came with the "progressively parented" cunt.
