It wouldn't really work for me but maybe you could offer some type of carrot for those that post so many times a week. A special exclusive icon or something?

Get rid of the mods that don't post or add to their forums. Put mods in that actually have something to say other than copying and pasting every other post. Merge the two deep thoughts forums together. Make a separate TV forum (or split the media forum in some way).

Thats the last thing we need. There's too many people here that post just to post and not add anything.

few reasons. first and foremost, i am lazy. secondly, that was right around the boards reboot / my life reboot period of time, which i'm still sorta in, so i just didn't look into it much. thirdly (thirdly?), i was also getting shit on by my server folk about server security issues, of which i'm not sure this thing'd fall under. fourthly, i've never really understood how a chat would make the boards better. i mean... doesn't a chat replace the boards?

No. It makes it them even better, I think the boards were better when we had the AIM chat ongoing and whenever we have a voice chat there's always a lot of threads and posts that come out of that.

Hey Rob, I don't know if this is important, but a while ago I remember trying to read the boards as an anon user (I was at another computer), but for some reason I couldn't get past the front page. Dunno if this was fixed, but I guess something like that kinda disencourages new members.

I agree with rex about mods in forums not contributing should be removed. I'm willing to give up my spot in the OT forum and have Ray Adler take over.

I also think there should be a little more transparencey with the regular users. Like if you post here a decent amount everyone should at the very least know your name. I have a hard time tolerating G-man for example when he hides behind the G-man title and douche Liddy avatar. Give us a picture and a first name at the very least. Me personally I will probably never ever post here like I used to simply 'cause I don't have the time anymore and pretty much stick to the Sports forum and occasionally politics. (I'm not too crazy about that either since I more or less hate Republican and Democrat politicians equally now)

Uh, the chats and IM chats make the boards slightly more fun 'cause one has a better idea about the actual person behind the posts. I, for one, look forward to RKMBsCon in Summer 2008.

Maybe we should have some journalist member compose something for new members. A sort-of "get to know the rkmbs" wank-fest. Maybe with links to the Random Interviews. Something to make the boards more accessible to the outside public so some of them might actually sign up. Speaking of, who was the last new member we didn't scare away? I'm remembering Pagliacci, PCgay, whatever... but he killed himself or something. While it's fun to have a tight-knit group of asshats to call "internet-friends," it is also fun to play with new fish. I have the feeling we might be about as accessible as 4chan, with so many inside jokes nobody outside can make head or tails of the writing.

I think that posting here is kinda cyclical - for the most part it seems that people get caught up in dealing with what's going on in their own lives and sometimes don't have as much time to post as usual, but come back when they can. As has been mentioned before, it can be hard to break in here what with all the inside jokes. It also seems that where once this was very fun/flirty/jokey/lighthearted place it has become a bit more snarky which could be a turn off for new and old users alike.

I've heard from a few people that don't post anymore that this place is just too small and a little uncomfortable.

So the RKMBs needs to be remodelled? More rooms? Add a bar? A hot tub?
