I was using PIA to sign up for a forum, but it kicked me for being on a proxy server. Ideas?
Don't use a proxy server(especially a free one as many or them are already well known and easily blacklisted), use a VPN.

vpnbook.com has a bunch of free accounts that give you a choice of Canadian, US, and EU servers. (the catch is that they change passwords on a weekly basis so if it stops working, you gotta go to the site to find out the new password, torrents are not allowed, and you gotta use your own VPN client. I use openvpn.)
PIA is a VPN. Still caught me anyway.

They use PPTP and bounce my signal off a Toronto server.

Yeah, I checked PIA out. My bad, they're a VPN server. Their hostname isn't too subtle, though (proxy-*.privateinternetaccess.com), a simple whois and any site that wants to filter out proxy users can catch you.

Could you check whatsmyip.com (just visit it) and see if it shows that you're using a proxy? If it says that you're using a proxy, try VPNbook. If it says No Proxy Detected, then I'm stumped.
Which forum is it, by the way? Is it raidable?
http://www.escapistmagazine.com

The mods have turned out to be a bunch of cunts who rival GameSpot mods in terms of cuntiness. I was going to insult them all with a big F U post that neither they nor other posters could ignore before running away like a scared kitten (ie. use a proxy).

I still want to post there, so I'm unwilling to show my hand--although everyone knows they're dirty at this point.

With PIA, WIMIP says there's no proxy detected. I checked VPNbook as well, but I don't see anywhere on the site where it would tell me whether I'm using a proxy or not.
Free wifi?

Internet café? Some of them are still in existence.
I checked VPNbook out, was able to get to the register page when using the US servers, but on Canadian and Russian servers I just get the page that says they've banned me from registering an account/contact an administrator if it is an error.

Is this related to their banning of people who advertise adblock?

I understand where they're coming from, they have a right to defend their source of revenue but IMO antagonizing the adblock users is just shooting themselves in the foot. At this point, politely asking people to just whitelist their site would have worked better.
Nah. Favoritism. They don't really like GamerGate; pro-GG posters have been getting fucked over for shit that doesn't make sense. I imagine it really pisses them off that the Escapist forum has become one of the go-to places for discussion and news on the matter. Same thing happened with GS, but everyone already knew that GS mods were cunts.

I'll try VPNBook I suppose.
