No, actually, it's in the past, when Anthro is an old man.

Wow. This was terrible. By far the worst Crisis and the worst of Grants work IMO.

This book made Zero Hour read like Watchmen.
Posted By: Jeremy Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-29 6:21 AM
And it made Infinite Crisis look like a masterpiece. It'll all be forgotten by the end of the year.
Posted By: Rob Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-29 6:23 AM
summarize so i dont have to read it, you lazy fuckwit scumbags!
Posted By: Jeremy Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-29 6:25 AM
What really confused the fuck out of me was that Aquaman returned "as prophesized". The fuck? There was nothing about that anywhere else in FC or anywhere in the DCU. Then there's the whole story within a story bullshit that carried over from Superman beyond (3D!!). Grant has to stop doing meth.

Nice artwork. Too bad the story sucked balls mightily.
Posted By: Jeremy Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-29 8:16 AM
Morrison said this regarding Final Crisis 7.

 Quote:
It’s also ‘final’ in the sense that it’s all about endings and apocalypses. It shows the DCU degrading, drained of all meaning, drained even of stories and characters, reduced to nothing but darkness, a mute Superman and a greedy Vampire God. We even break down the conventional storytelling modes at the end until there’s nothing familiar left in an effort to convey what the end of a universe might feel like.

yup. i kinda liked the middle issues but the last two were just gob awful.

That shit was barely worth the download. The entire series was deleted post-haste
Posted By: Ultimate Jaburg53 Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-29 9:41 PM
I disagree.

After this issue (and drugs, you've got to have drugs) I think I finally understand what Final Crisis was all about.
Posted By: Ultimate Jaburg53 Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-29 9:42 PM
It is very abstract.
Posted By: Jeremy Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-29 10:02 PM
Yeah, it was about trying to exceed the suck factor that was Countdown.

I was confused. Refresh my memory who is Dan Turpin again?

Turpin was introduced back in Jack Kirby's original New Gods series from the 70's. Other than being a cop I don't remember much about him other than I think he was also made some appearences in the JLU cartoon.
Posted By: K-nutreturns Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-30 1:46 AM
not the JLU cartoon. he used to be a regular on Superman TAS but was killed by darksied in one of the season finales (damn good episode too) besides that he's been a cop in the superman comics for some time now till the crisis
Posted By: PJP Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-30 5:27 AM
yeah right now I remember......this was a pretty far out series. I wish I still smoked pot.....maybe then I could understand it.

Actually, Turpin goes way back to Kirby's WW2 comic, Boy Commandos.

He's the one with the bowl hat (originally named "Brooklyn").

He was Maggie Sawyer's partner at the Metropolis S.C.U. for a long time, until she was transferred to Gotham (and the Bat-books) and the Superman books sorta lost track of him.

In S:TAS Turpin was drawn to resemble Kirby.

He was also around a lot in the Superman comics from the late 80's on. I think he disappeared from the pages around when Loeb took over (I wonder why...fuckin' Loeb ).

It's not that hard to understand.

It's what that interview said it was.

It was the destruction of the multiverse.

The death of the DCU.

It all comes crashing down, right to the story telling, the dialog, everything.

I think I may even understand The Filth a little bit more.

I have to say, I hated Final Crisis, right up until the final issue.

Now I have to say after going through it again I liked it.

He tried something new. I give DC Comics a little credit actually for letting him do all this.

Now, It's far from fucking literature. Especially since the jackass actually had to come out and explain what the fuck he meant.

I just have to say I'm glad I downloaded all this shit.
Posted By: Jeremy Re: final crisis 7 - 2009-01-30 8:20 AM
It was a story about the death of the DCU, sure, but the outcome had the monitors deciding not to interfere with the multiverse.

I can think of a fair number of kids who would find a "Walter" version of Sully pretty hilarious.

Please stop thinking about kids.

It's not "about" kids. It's "of" kids.

Why do people keep saying this as if it makes it good writing?

That's not to say you're saying it's good, but everyone on the DCMBs is like, "Wow! This shit is so fresh that steam is coming off of it." Of course, they don't even acknowledge the stench.

In any case, it was gay
