I’ve been battling cancer since last September. It started in the kidney and I had my left kidney removed. I was in a clinical trial which didn’t quite work out. They did a CT scan and they suspect lung cancer. They did confirm cancer In my adrenal gland. Today I was told the Masses in my lung have gotten bigger. On top of this I had an infection in my right foot and I have been in the hospital for nine weeks getting Antibiotics. It appears to be doing very well. So wish me luck. I’ll try to keep in touch as I hopefully get good news with the cancer. I should start chemo in a couple of weeks. Please send prayers my way! God Bless!

I'm deeply sorry about your situation, Llance. You've been missed from these boards, but obviously you've had greater concerns than posting here regularly.

I have a beautiful co-worker (and very kind) who was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago, and went through chemotherapy and as of roughly 2 years ago is now fully recovered. I have an aunt who in her late 60's developed lymphoma and likewise went through chemotherapy and was fully recovered for 10 years until she eventually died something else, heart disease.
So there's hope.
I had a minor skin cancer myself in December of last year, removed from above my right cheekbone and below the eye. I was a bit afraid I'd been butchered in the two weeks immediately after, I joked I looked like Frankenstein. But two days after the stitches were removed, it was barely even noticeable, and is virtually invisible now.

I've seen it written often that over 90% of cancers are treatable, the key is to catch it early.

Best wishes Llance, and hope to hear good news from you in the near future.

Thanks Wonder Boy. I certainly do hope i’m able to comment on this for many more years to come. I’ve heard several stories of survival and each one lifts my spirits a little bit higher!

Thanks G-Man! I should be getting out of the hospital this Monday. Nine weeks has been too long!

Fuck, man. That's rough. I'm glad you are getting through it. I hope you've been able to get porn.

So sorry for what you're going through Lance. Hope you do well with the chemo. They can do some amazing things these days that they couldn't just a couple years ago. And there are miracles, lots and lots of miracles. A coworker's father in his upper 80's was not given a very good prognosis. He was in his upper 80's and his oncologist said no treatment would be a totally acceptable choice for him to make. He was given about a year with treatment and whatever side effects. He chose treatment and did incredibly well and got 3 years. He was over 90 when he passed away and was able to live in his own home up till the last couple of months. I also have niece that had cancer when she was 2. It had pretty good odds for beating it at first but things just kept going wrong until my brother stopped talking about survival rates. Than they tried something that worked and now she's getting ready for college next year with clear scans for the last 10 years.

You have my thoughts and prayers Lance

I heard two great survival stories from my physical therapist earlier today. It’s good to hear a couple more. The one survivor had masses in her lungs Like I do. It’s been over 12 years for her and she has two little girls in spite of the doctors saying she would never be able to have children. She is in remission. Thanks for the well wishes guys!

I had a female client in her early 50's who told me in the last year she had a car accident. After the accident she felt chest pains and thought she'd broken a rib. After thorough examination, her doctor told her she had breast cancer in the earliest stages. And if not for the car accident, it would have gone un-noticed and undiagnosed until it became life threatening and possibly too late. She told me "I thank God for that car accident!"

Ironic, eh?

I will be getting out of the hospital on Tuesday. The Foot is healing pretty good. I should be starting chemo sometime this week. I cannot go up and down steps So I have to stay downstairs at my house.

Tomorrow's the big day! It's going to be nice I'm sure for you to be able to be home after being in the hospital for so many weeks!

Would your insurance buy you a stair lift?

I hope things are going better for you since you got home a few days ago, Llance.

Like M E M said above, it's got to be a comfort just to be in your own home and not a hospital.

Good luck, Llance. You've got this. Hope you do a fantastic job of punching cancer in the dick. Will be sending good vibes your way in the days, weeks, and years to come.

Unfortunately round one goes to cancer. Chemo gave me severe diarrhea after 22 doses and I had to stop. Hopefully the doctor can suggest an alternative when I see him Wednesday. Since I have 2 sections to my steps a stairlift would cost $10,000. A little pricey for something I hopefully won’t need for long. I doubt if insurance would pay any of if it tho. Thanks everyone!

Sorry the chemo didn't go well Lance. One of our HR people also had a really bad reaction to it for her breast cancer. She did much much better with radiation though and won in round 2. Hope your round 2 goes as well!

We all want the very best for you, LLance.

I just ran across these homepathic remedies for cancer, that could be supplemental treatment that might help you:

In general, stop eating sugar, sugar is a breeding ground for cancer. You could also look what foods to avoid, as well as foods that will help boost your immunity. And eating fresh uncooked fruit, vegetables and nuts (i.e., a "vegan" diet).

There was a long article cover-featured in PENTHOUSE back in January 1994, that I sent a copy of to my uncle many years later when I learned he had cancer (prostate cancer, which he struggled with for about 15 years).
The article was titled "AIDS is not a Death Sentence", that while specifically about AIDS, was more broadly about boosting your natural immunity to fight all kinds off disease. And interviewed 4 men who were not just HIV positive, but were in the death throes of full-blown AIDS, and their doctors had given them just months left to live. But they, mostly through diet, were in complete remission and had fully recovered.
A couple "juiced" fruit and vegetables in a blender that broke down heaalthy foods so they were easier to digest and fully get the nutritional content of.

It was in a period when I'd begun reading PENTHOUSE again for photo-spreads and interviews of Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones and a few other girls in the headlines around that time.
Just reading for the articles, of course! I was partly reading for content that drew my attention, and partly for nostalgia, since I'd enjoyed reading PENTHOUSE in my high school and college years from roughly 1979-1986.

This is why I love WB.

Back on the Sutent again. The cancer had progressed some. Hopefully this chemo pill will turn things around. I’m sure the doctor will check the cancer’s progress again in 3months.

Thanks Wonder Boy! Several nurses told me the same thing when I was in the hospital.
