Because we live in a society where things like "personal responsibility" and "proper parenting" do not apply. Never mind the fact that this took place in another country. People will read that article and, instead of taking control of their children's gameplay and actions, push responsibility and blame onto the game designers, gaming company, and probably schools as well.
If my brother or I had the unmitigated GALL to threaten either our parents or ANYONE with a knife, my parents would've disarmed us and kicked our asses from MA to GA. And my parents never put their hands on their kids. Too few parents do their parenting at home. They're content to have TV and video games do the parenting/babysitting for them, then wonder why their kids have no morals, but do have behavioral issues.
I don't condemn the video games or the comapnies that create them. I condemn the idiots who can't be bothered with raising their kids with proper morals and values, then cry that schools and the government don't do enough to keep said companies in line.
They do. It's called prison for those little sociopaths that you parents helped create.

I totally agree with this post. Had I threathened my parents, any one else, with a knife, I´d be given a thourough ass kicking, which in such case I actually think is a right thing.
People should learn the consequences of their actions.
And it's really sad that people can't be bothered to raise their kids themselves.....
