WB Runs With DC's FLASH!!
I am – Hercules!!

Lotta superhero news today!

The WB has ordered a pilot for a new series based on DC Comics' “fastest man alive," according to this Friday morning Variety story by Josef Adalian.

Todd Komarnicki, one of the many producers on the Will Ferrell “Elf” movie due in November, will script the "Flash" pilot.

Unlike the 1990 CBS version, the new “Flash” will feature a speedster who never dons the comic-book character’s skintight scarlet running suit.

Like the comics’ current Flash, Wally West, the new TV Flash will learn that he is only the latest in a long line of Flashes.

Okay, here’s the weird part. According to the Variety piece, the Flash will each week be sent on a time-travel mission to the past or the future. (The comic-book Flash can travel through time too – with the help of a handy "cosmic treadmill" – but he doesn’t do it in every issue!)

If the series goes forward, it'll likely debut about a year from now.

yeah, it sounds like they are screwing this up from the get go. Here is something else that is said:

In other DC television news, Variety reported Friday that The WB has committed to a pilot based on The Flash.

The WB show will have nothing to do with the CBS show that lasted one season in 1990. It is being developed by Todd Komarnicki, who will executive produce and is writing the pilot.

According to Variety, this version of The Flash won't wear a red costume and will be a 20-something Gothamite who uses his powers to time travel.

Alright then! I won't be watching that show!

And if DC Forces Geoff Johns to change the book to be like the TV Show, then for the first time since October 1994, I won't be reading the Flash.

The 1990 Flash series was actually successful in the ratings, it just had a budget that was way too large. If they stuck to the old series style with modern (and cheaper) cgi it could work. C'mon look at Smallville, I'd watch an hour of those bullet time sequences.
