Heh.

And this of course leaves Ralph open to become the Elongated Stud: a stretching mass of man love, in Vertigo's new adult-themed comic.

I think the ending shows that Ralph will eventually be as cracked as Jean. Sue kept him grounded. Without Sue, he's a lame Plastic Man without the goofier charm.

So, is Gingold a popular sodapop in the DCU? Why aren't there a lot more stretchy goofballs in the DCU?

Right, metagene, right. The answer to everything.

As for Jean pulling this elaborate stunt to get Ray back when she could've just asked him, my response is this- She's a woman. Women are known to make rash, illogical decisions, especially when it comes to relationships. Kudos to Meltzer for not being afraid to show women as the unstable creatures they are.

Kudos, to you to!

I loved this series. I kept away from the net, so I had no idea it was Jean. DAv and Frank sewed the seeds that Atom might get it, when the series started - So when reading #7, I was really worried that Atom could be the killer and if he wasn't, then he could be killed!

Absolutely loved Rags art throughout, in #7 the Batman/Flash JLA scene.

To those who wanted more plotlines resolved......, I don't know, but I was never under any impression that they would be, all I knew, was the killer would be revealed at the end! Lets face it, would you want the Batman plot resolved within this seven issue mini series. This is....hopefully...going to be some big shit! And, maybe Bats wasn't so crazy to have done what he did in the Towers of Babel JLA story!

Best SUPERHERO mini-series of the year? Best SUPERHERO Mini series in the last 10 years!

If ROY BATTY says this series was the SHIT then all of you better damn well believe this series was the SHIT! This is the ROY BATTY I'm talking about here! Besides I thought it was damn fine fiction as well! If you can't be mindless drones and believe the ROY BATTY and the LLANCE what good are you anyway? I always knew Jean Loring was a bitch anyway so all this makes perfect sense. I do hope they don't do another Sword and Sorcery Atom mini though! No one superhero should get two pieces of green pussy in one lifetime! Know what I mean?

After reading the last issue I'm not sure what to think. For my taste it wasn't all that great. The only thing from this story that will rock the DCU in 2005 is when Flash tells Batman he had his mind erased by the JLA. By the 4th issue it had to be an inside job. Oh well. I want to see Batman crack in 2005.

She-hulk, Jirella, Jade, Any gal from Brainiac 5's homeworld, Supergirl with kryptonite poisoning. It's fairly common in the superhero world

You left off J'onn J'onzz if he shape shifts.

ROY is right - no one wants the Batman plot line resolved in 7 issues. I can really see Bats causing a lot of trouble in the DCU over the next few years, especially after War Games and this.

The funny thing is: I took some of the references in the book to possibly imply that GA thought Batman had already figured it out and that is why he was so distrusting of the League thereafter, even to the point of concocting the infamous "JLA Protocols" that Ras Al Ghul later exploited.

So the "Mageddon" reason was just an excuse...?

I also liked how Green Arrow implied that Batman had also done it to them....

Well, once I went and actually read the thing (instead of going off like a candy assed baboon based on spoilers) i did enjoy it. A lot. A lot of new story possibilities open in the DCU. A more nuanced, real life attitiude is there, if you can say such a thing in a world of flying men with capes.

It still stands as probably the best miniseries of the year. Tight, interesting writing, and terrific artwork, actually accomplishing some story points instead of Armageddon 2001'ing itself.

I'm not crazy about the idea that this is just a prelude to a prequel to a miniseries that will REALLY shake things up. Let's tell a story all by itself instead of setting up the next 2 freaking years, hokay?

Yep. All of the criticism is just nitpicking. I wasn't reading it for the whodunnit aspect. I was reading it because this was a whole new feel for the DCU. It was certainly refreshing to not pick up a final event issue that didn't involve the entire DCU pointing at some energy vortex in the sky and then blasting in unison withtheir eye beams and finger beams while Superman alone does battle with the cosmic heavy that (again *yawn*) threatens the Universe/reality/time.

The new "feel" of the DC Universe to me, was the point. I certainly didn't want it all wrapped upm and resolved/forgotten in one final orgasmicgraphic issue.

Oh, c'mon. We don't read these things for intelligence. We all want Superman and Captain Atom and Martian Manhunter to blast the evil terror with eyebeams, heroically exhausting themselves, as a stereotypical conclusion to a meandering and pointless plotline which zigzags from title to title.

People who want characterisation in their comics should go and read a novel! There is no place for any of that stuff here!

From Greg Rucka's interview in Newsarama (I read it for the tiny chance that he might say "Oh, yeah, and the guy's writing the other Super-book is Morrison"):

Quote:

“In [January’s] #636, Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have their first big meeting since the events of Identity Crisis,” Rucka said. “Those who are not up to speed on what happened during Identity Crisis, meaning the characters who weren’t aware of all the sordid secrets, find them out. It leads to what will be the start of a huge fracture between the three pillars of the DCU. You’re going to see the beginnings of a breakdown.

Bats should have a falling out with the other old Leaguers, not Supes and WW. I'd liek to see Batman thump the crap out of Hawkman and Green Arrow.

He definitely should. I can see where he'd be pissed at Supes over this too, though, as it's strongly hinted at that Supes knew all along and just ignored it.

That's how I read it, too.

And the fact that Batman quit the Justice League to start up the Outsiders not all that long afterwards may have been the beginning of that period of distrust (moreso than before, I mean -- after all, he's always had backup plans).

And people say I'm cynical. Batman is a natural for a team book.

How many times has Bats quit the JLA now, anyway? Twice? Thrice?
