What about 'Mickey's Christmas Carol'? I think Scrooge McDuck is the only Scrooge worth mentioning.

B.S. Magoo would stomp McDuck's ass and roast him for dinner.

If he could see him, that is.

No way. McDuck would just get Gyro to make him a 'blind midget stomping' machine.

It was an exact title match search. Any variations with a Mr. Magoo, Mickey, Bug Bunny, Fred Flinstone, Muppets, or any other character in a franchise didn't come up.

When I was in 3rd grade and my mom was home-room mother I talked her into showing that during our class Xmas party. Also I am distantly related to the late Jim Varney.

It was good, but it's no Ernest Goes to Camp. Speaking of, does anyone remember the old Saturday Morning show Hey Vern, It's Ernest? That was fun.

thedoctor said:I've been a big fan of [a Christmas Story] since I first saw it back around '84 or so. I don't let the overabundance of airings that it's enjoyed over the past decade get to me; but I began to realize that it knocked out the movie which had dominated our TV sets for decades as the #1 Holiday movie, It's a Wonderful Life.

There's a legal reason for that.

Up until about ten years ago, the broadcast rights to "It's a Wonderful Life" had somehow lapsed. This meant that every TV station in America could air it without paying royalties to the studio. As a result, every TV station in made it a holiday staple because it was cheap and starred a well-known actor (Jimmy Stewart), not because it was well-loved (in fact, it was a bomb when first released).

It was those repeated airings that imparted "classic" status on it, as more and more people realized that, hey, it's a DAMN GOOD MOVIE.

Then, about ten years ago, Ted Turner reasserted the broadcast rights and, as a result, it only airs a few times on "his" stations. I believe that is, in part, because Turner agrees that it's a classic and should be a special occasion. (But I could be wrong on that last part).

Thank you, I was going to post the reason for this.

I actually saw, but didn't meet, the woman that played Zuzu last year. She spoke at my church one December weekend. She said how the movie bombed at the boxoffice but it was because of those airings on tv that it became a hit.

I wish it would air more often though. Yes I have it on tape, bought it from Blockbuster eons ago and it's black and white, but there's something about watching it on tv that makes it more special.

It's a rented tux ok? I'm not going comando in another man's fatigues.

Waaay back when this movie first came out, HBO was running a special on the making of the film.

During the special, they showed a sequence where one of the kids in the film was seen telling Spielberg that, because the film took place at Xmas, he should release it in December. Spielberg replied that he specifically did NOT want it released in December because he did NOT want it to be considered a Christmas film.

A CHRISTMAS STORY...you'll shoot your eye out!

HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS...you're a mean one, Mr. Grinch.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE...Hot dog!

NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS...there's no place more comfortable than Oogie Boogie's!

A CHARLIE BROWN CHRISTMAS...and that's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.

I need to amend this list and include THE LION IN WINTER. It was on last night. Damn. What a great movie. What wonderful dialog.

Ah, Christmas at Chinon. "The Yule Log roars, the hot wine steams, and we're the fat that's in the fire..."

I just find it interesting that three of the films listed are remakes of the same story. At best it shows the enduring quality of the Dickens tale. At worst is shows that Hollywood, and the audiences, have little imagination when it comes to Christmas tales.
