It's important to remember that we as a nation are descended from radicals and revolutionaries and not from authoritarians and conformists.
Our founding fathers built our nation on Biblical principles of freedom, liberty, basic human rights, and accountability to the God who created us, in a new form of government based on those principles.
Modern liberalism is based on Marxist/Soviet ideas of secularism, and disdain for marriage, family, capitalism, and the Christian principles on which this nation was founded.
Our founders were conformists and loyal British citizens until their king abused their basic rights under a higher authority. And that higher authority is named four times in the Declaration of Independence.
As opposed to the new self-proclaimed radicals and revolutionaries of the modern Left, who live in contempt for --and plot willful destruction of-- the very system that gave them the freedoms they abuse.

Actually, they were heavily inspired by philosophers like Montesque, Lock, and Voltaire (think that's how you spell it) who had reasoned that people were endowed with "inalienable human rights" that came from something higher then a king. It wasn't so much biblical inspiration so much as it was an "age of enlightenment" where they realized the old ways were...practically based on bullshit.
I don't know if that makes them Liberal or Conservative but considering how they rebelled against the old ways and authority I'd say the odds of them being on the right are slim. Especially the smarter ones like Jefferson and Franklin.
But I'd bet you the founding fathers be pissed about what's going on today.
